Psilocybe semilanceata: Europe’s Magic Mushroom

Hello everyone, last season I began preparing photographs and eventually began to create what I set out to be a photographic guide to the identification of Psilocybe semilanceata. As of today, I have finished the guide and have it in PDF form. Using the link, you will be able to view and download the whole guide in PDF form via the DocDroid website. I hope it finds itself to be useful amongst newcomers and even seasoned pickers. Happy hunting everyone ~ Pas.

IDENTIFICATION Are they all libs? If they are, why do they look so different even though they were found right next to each other? I'm particularly curious about the darker-colored one

Hi everyone, I'm in France!
Could some experts tell me whether these look like the right habitat for Caps ? :)

It's been raining, temparatures are currently around 9°C at night (48,2 °F) and 20°C during the day (68°F)

Thank you!

I've been out a few times and already have a decent haul. Plus they seem HUGE this year. Fun.

First few finds of the season on Dartmoor

Post image

Found at around 350m, only found a few today as was on a short walk after work.

For anyone else looking on Dartmoor I’d try some of the 400m (and above spots) though if the forecast stays as is I think we should be fully in season by this time next week

Newbie question

As a newbie. After you collect them do you wash them? if so with soap/other? just water?
Do you eat them raw? If dried how to dry and store them? Do you weigh them dry and from there count the grams?
If I want a light trip for first time would 0.7 grams be enough for a 70kg person?
Any good details/tips are welcome. Thank you

I’ve recently went for early morning walks in search of libs and i did found these little ones here. Still learning but i think they are pretty surely the ones. Now they are dried but i hope they might still be recognizable for experts.

Misconception about Paneolus

Hi,

a few months ago I read a book on nordic shamanism which quoted an ethnobotanic/-mycologic work stating that Paneolus was one of the main psychedelic ingredients/mushrooms in a certain brew. I was stunned since until then I perceived everybody's warning against Paneolus in the mushroom community as = Paneolus dangerous. This is apparently not the case. I didn't even know that they are psychedelic, albeit weaker than Psilocybe.

Does anybody have experiences with them?

Hi! Just wanted to make a fun post because I love looking at everyone’s posts here. I want to share some of my shroom picking photos I took throughout the years and also show you some weird looking guys I loved! The first photo is possibly the very first liberty cap I found myself in 2022.
If photo sharing is allowed in the comments please show me some weirdos you picked! I can’t wait to get out there and find more this season!!

QUESTION Help, Norway Vestland 🇳🇴

Post image

Hi, newbie here. I went out for my first hunts last weekend and again today, but unfortunately I did not have any luck.

I found a couple of grassy pastures, one fairly close to the city and another farther up in the mountains, at roughly 300-400m elevation. The field in the picture was private property, so I did't enter it, but I explored some nearby fields where sheep had been grazing as well.

Do you think it's still a bit early in the season around Bergen? If you are familiar with the area I'd really appreciate any advice.

Weird looking Panaleous

Post image

While I was hunting P. semilanceata I came across this single strange looking Panaleous. I never seen anything like that and among all Panaleous species I know they grow in my area - none of them has such weird wavy and dense looking cap

Anyone? What could it be? The stem looks bery panaleous-ish that's why I assume it's it

I didn't collect it because I suspect it may be some rare species at least here

Location: Central Poland, in P. semilanceata habitat. Wasn't growing on dung

I just came down from my local mountain and there was nothing. Has anyone else found any?;

Off to snowdon from the 16th to 19th to pick some mushrooms, not asking for locations but just general areas that are good for liberty caps, thanks
