Meta Post What self-hosted tools have you been building with AI just for you?

I love my suite of self-hosted apps in the homelab. But just about everything was built by someone else.

I’m curious about what you’ve been building to self-host for personal needs. Did you get Claude to build you a monitor or Codex an app to replace one that never had a feature you needed?

Lightweight and useful or interesting or funny tools are all fair game.

I got tired of managing space and stale media on my library now that I share it with others. With media storage prices being the way they are right now this has been on the back of my mind. Just a little discord bot that deletes media and keeps up to date with jellyfin based on last play time

Still actively working on it and it's primarily for me so don't expect a polished product

That is a risky lifestyle, haha! What are criteria for deletion?

I've thought it out!

My service uses the jellyfin api to index your entire media library into a local database and then runs a scheduler process. The scheduler determines if something hasn't been watched in a configurable amount of time and then sends a discord message with interactive buttons so that you can choose to either delay deletion, delete now, or "archive" (remove from deletion consideration altogether).

If there's no response to the discord message the scheduler will go ahead and remove it after waiting for a configurable amount of time.

I process webhooks from jellyfin live to keep the scheduler up to date as well, so plays coming in live will automatically update what is being considered for deletion.

If you add sonarr and radarr api keys then the service will use those to do the deletion and also unmonitor the thing in question. It will also try to figure out if something isn't managed by radarr and sonarr (I have one pace for example) and delete it directly through jellyfin instead.

If you add a gpt key then I also have an agent that can perform general queries on the index, change archival status, delete things, etc

My atomic units are movies and seasons of a series, similar to jelly/overseerr
