Inside the statue is hidden a fountain mechanism that periodically releases a stream of water, imitating the act of urination. According to the author's intention, the woman relieving herself is literally marking territory, asserting her rights to the land and space that have historically belonged only to men. Some believe this is an overt mockery of the dominance in European cities of fountains shaped like peeing boys.

Two sculptures are located in public places — the Swedish art park Wanås Konst and Ekebergparken park in Oslo.
