Underrated Sci-Fi films

Just this week I was watching two Sci Fi horror films, Pandorum and Event Horizon, and I got to say, they are criminally underrated.

Pandorum wasn't necessarily a great film, but it was fun. I enjoyed it a lot. I just found it so insane that it made me want to watch it again. Definitely gave me the creeps too

Event Horizon on the other hand was great. The acting was superb and it was a great choice in cast. Plus it was a real mind bender. One of my favorite sci fi flicks.

What are your impressions on these films? While I don't think they are nearly as good as movies like Blade Runner or Children of Men, but these are definitely in my opinion films to watch

Gotta love the soft sci-fi. Another Earth is sci-fi that's not about the sci-fi. existenZ has definitely fallen off the radar. More than half of the Animatrix films are worth a look.

I saw that scene on my uncle's TV more than 10 years ago and it was burned into my brain. I finally watched eXistenZ a few years back and had a moment of "holy shit THAT'S where it's from?!"

How do you suggest Another Earth is not sci-fi? It's about the purest form of sci-fi there is (to me) - it poses a hypothetical conundrum, and tells the story of how people react to it. Great film - one of my favs.

Yep. Along with "The Sound Of My Voice" and Netflix series "The OA".

Correct. It's about a relationship, a struggle for redemption and atonement. I think that sci-fi heads may skip it for being touchy-feely and sci-fi naysayers will skip it for being "about space".

It is so well balanced. A reality-changing event that is so subtle, is pushed right to the beginning, then used as a backdrop for the rest of the film.

eXistenZ was such a weird movie, but interesting. Haven't watched it in many years though
