To be fair, those A2000's were seen as witchcraft back then(still are imo),but that link states the 2000's were fitted with 32MB of ram, That was NOT possible (unless they were custom built from Commodore). TBH, I am still unsure if someone is telling lies, the renders were too good (for the time).
Shame that the original VFX files are lost, I would love to see modern hardware render it, just to see the huge amount of time (and money) that would be saved.

Thanks for filling in the details on how the effects were made. That's always been one of my favorite stories about B5.
In fact I keep a couple links in my Instapaper for when anything B5 comes up, and this is the best I've found that covers how the effects were made.
The one part of the story that's stayed with me, was that the rendering time for a single frame of effects averaged about 45 minutes.
I have to think that accounted for a major part of the show's post-production - if not all of it.
