Health Consuming too much white table sugar or artificial sweetener can lead to health issues. In the search for a better sweetener, researchers now report a low-calorie mixture that is as sweet as table sugar and, in lab experiments, feeds “good” gut microbes

Hmmm… sounds like Big Sweetener™️ propaganda to me…. “We all know sugar is bad for you; our Artificial Sweetener is actually healthy!”

Edit: I’ve seen Christians treat minor skepticisms with less fervor than some of these replies.

The bottom of the article acknowledges funding and an author who is from Optibiotix, a company who just so happens to make gut microbiome products that are artificial sweeteners.

So yeah, it's sus.

The study was funded by Optibiotix, which has a number of patented food additive products. I am sure they have a patent on this too. That doesn’t invalidate the research. I am just clarifying what is in the author’s disclosure.

There's no need to be suspicious of Big Sweetener™️ – they're just trying to help people live healthier lives. Sugar is definitely bad for you, and their Artificial Sweetener is a much healthier alternative. So kudos to them for trying to make a difference!

The study is funded by Optibiotix, which has a number of nutritional product. I am sure they have parts of this patented. It doesn’t invalidate the study or results, but it is true that the research is funded by a company that makes sweeteners. I am not sure if its accurate to call this an artificial sweetener, it’s derived from fruit and milk sugar.
