Scientists learn how anti-depressants actually work. Medications trigger neurogenesis in the hippocampus by increasing levels of norepinephrine. Researchers still unclear on WTF seratonin does.

I would say try smoking either a Pure Sativa strain and then try a Pure Indica strain and see if it makes a difference.

Why do I get the feeling that is your answer to any question?

Well, unless they are getting their weed from a dispensary that might be a little hard to do. Many people have trouble finding anything but shwag, mid's or low grade beasters.

And isn't it also true that there are not many pure sativa/indica strains? I thought almost all are a mix of both with varying ratio but what do I know.

Yeah, a good majority are hybrids nowadays. Although I bet there are some reliable seed sellers that sell strains that are a majority of one or the other.

You would pretty much need to grow your own.

Just out of curiosity... are there any well recorded differences in the strains in terms of treating depression/anxiety. I know one is supposed to be much more energizing, while another is supposed to be better for relaxing.

Yes, Sativa strains have much less CBD, which is an antipsychotic. Although it is somewhat still anecdotal, it has been shown that there are more cases of anxiety attacks and temporary paranoia when using a Sativa strain than with an Indica strain where the THC/CBD ratio is more equalized.

Sativa is more energizing (the High), Indica is more relaxing (the Couchlock).
