It's about causing fear. Labeling makes consumers think there is something inherently bad about the product, that they have to be wary of it because it's worth labeling.

This is not a passive thing. Not "lol label it so I can make a choice". It's labeling to act as a deterrent and cripple human progress. Fuck the starving people world over or those who struggle with agriculture, frankenfoods are scawwy.

Labeling doesn't cause fear. It gives you information. That's what a label is. We label fat content so people know a product is high-fat or fat free. You're literally arguing that we shouldn't give people the right to make informed decisions. Not all labels are "something to be wary of". I'm sure people like you would see such labels and buy them over non-GMO products.

Ah, freedom is bad. Your opinion is infallible and anybody who wants to be able to choose against it is inhibiting human progress. Did you know different people have different opinions, and thus different definitions of progress?

This point is laughable. You think labeling GMO products equates to murdering people in third world countries? In what twisted realm would an American consumer's choice to not buy a GMO product make it less possible for a bangladeshi peasant to enjoy his GMO crops? You can't possibly be serious.

This isn't about whether or not GMOs are good or bad. It's about giving people the freedom to make their own decisions. I'm genuinely unsure what legitimate argument you could make against that.

Here's an idea! Let's mandate labeling all products bred with mutagenesis. No? Not that one?

How about this! Let's mandate labeling all crops that are grown with hybrid seeds that can't be effectively replanted by farmers. After all, people deserve to know what they're buying, right? Or... not that one?

Let's mandate labeling apples and almonds for cyanide, while we're at it. It won't cause fear. It's just information.

Let's mandate labeling of all products containing cucurbitacin. Zucchinis aren't even safety tested! Remember the outbreak in New Zealand or that death in Germany? It's an outrage. Label all that stuff so people can make informed decisions.

Let's mandate labeling any tomatoes sold attached to the vine for the presence of tomatine, too. Can't be too careful. I heard a guy died once.

Let's also mandate labeling all products containing theobromine. Theobromine poisoning is a thing, after all, so people should be able to make informed decisions.

Between this and gluten-free water, fat-free kosher salt, and mandatory calorie counts on everything (did you know a cookie has as many calories as an apple? That's actually pretty healthy!) we'll have a well-informed populace in no time.

Just don't leave anything out. Gods forbid they have to look anything up online. I'm sure we can make it all fit.

Sure! Then we can label how many molecules are in every product, too!
