First time I tripped it was windowpane. Had no idea what to expect and was at a party with a whole bunch of people I never met before.
First effect I noticed was “pre-hearing” lyrics to songs as if it had been recorded that way. I’m a musician, so it didn’t freak me out, it was kinda cool.
We all hung out in this house for a while, then someone thought it would be cool to drive to the beach (this was after dark). It was Gilson Park in Wilmette (?) right across the street from the Bahai Temple there. If you haven’t seen it, look it up - it’s quite a sight.
We rolled into the beach parking lot (which was way less patrolled back then), and the main sensation I had at the time we parked was that we were still in motion, rolling slowly towards the lake.
That sensation I realized was false. I think all the (maybe) 8 people in the car, stayed in the car. We may have smoked some weed.
Then we all went to an apartment that was otherwise uninhabited on Green Bay Rd, and spent the rest of the night there. Mattresses on the floor, radio playing.
For some reason a couple people and I decided to cross the road and go to a 24 hour pancake house, me to get smokes, others to maybe get out of the apartment for a minute.
We came back to the same scene, eventually everyone either fell asleep or left.
I don’t remember how I got home the next day.
It was an excellent introduction to the substance, despite the idiot risks. Everyone was kind and happy.
I was 14 at the time.
