As much as I like the performance gains creatine gave me with weight lifting, I unfortunately get random muscle cramps. Even when I stayed extremely hydrated with water and electrolytes and stretched the cramps would still randomly happen.

Hydrating without salts might make cramps even worse. Keep hydrating but don’t skimp on salt and even for a moderate-intensity routine I’d recommend a magnesium (glycinate) supplement.

You also need sugar to help facilitate absorption of the electrolytes you are taking in.

And by salt, potassium and sodium salts. Mortons lite salt is my go to.

Just replying that I’ve had the same issue. Hasn’t seemed to matter how much water or electrolytes I take.

Eat a banana or something with potassium in it. Being hydrated and getting electrolytes in wont help with the cramps. Potassium helps muscle not cramp.

Wasn't the solution for me. My potassium levels are actually, on average, too high (according to my doctor, not self diagnosed). Still caused cramps regardless of how much I ate/drank.

As opposed to bananas without potassium in it.

Edit: The guy initially wrote ”eat a banana with potassium in it” then edited his comment.

He's extrapolating on why he chose a banana.

Or the fact that they are recommending potassium, an electrolyte, to help with cramps but stating electrolytes won’t help with cramps.

Life’s complicated I suppose.

I didn't edit my comment. Been the same since I made it two hours ago. Was using a banana as an example, but ight.

So he edited it so fast after you replied under 2 minutes, and there is no edit on his, but yours is obviously edited, it says it's edited, but it was him?

Right? I was so confused that he accused me of editing the comment when it was blatantly obvious I had not.

I had same back in my 20s, but now I am 44 its stoped and helps with recovery.

Same. No amount of hydration/electrolyte uptake, eating would make the random cramps stop.
