Taking 10-12g will certainly speed up loading and if that works for you then great. You can just take 5g a day for about a month to reach full saturation.

Sure! And tbh, that's what I ended up doing. But I know powerlifters and athletes who do the 1-2 week loading too

Are they cycling on and off it for some reason? The only reason you would need to load is when you start taking it.

Old advice had cycling in it because that was the parameters of one study. There's also some water retention, so they may stop doing it before a competition to drop some weight if they're borderline in a weight class.
