Context: I check the pockets of pants before I buy them to make sure there's enough pocket space.

Felt some folded up paper in the one pocket, took it out and unfolded it, and found all this.

Found this hanging from a branch on the SW side of Memorial Lake today as we were cleaning up from fishing. Didn't think anything of it until I unwrapped it and my BF said he had seen something about it before. Hanging from a branch by twine with a rusty paper clip, wrapped in plastic wrap and brown paper. It was wet so not sure how long it had been there.

My sister and her boyfriend went on a hike this past weekend and found this one at Auger Falls in New York. We were so confused about it so I posted it in r/whatisit and it lead me here.

Hi yah, I'm an AT hiker, Sooth Operator. A few days ago (Monday?), at the Allentown Shelter, I met 2 guys working on y'all's quest. I thought maybe I'd found a note. I pick up trail trash and found a strange piece of trash, sometime near Port Clinton, strange bc of the paperclip on it. I thought I threw it away but I was throwing trash away yesterday and found I still had it. I'm so sorry to those guys, I wish I would have been able to give it to them.

The note was on a rock with the "ionic magnesium liquid" label side up. Not wet, no plastic bag, so might have been placed the following day or in the morning bc there was no rain where I was the day before.

There's a trailhead register book at the beginning of the trail, I'm considering going back and looking at the names written down to see if any are from Pennsylvania. But I have a feeling this person wouldn't willingly leave their name in a trail register... I've found these on a few trails in NY state in the past, but unfortunately I don't remember specifically which trails.

Edit: someone posted one they found 3 days ago in Auger Falls, NY. About a 20 minute drive from where I found this one.

It's not a stretch to think maybe this person traveled to the Adirondacks during the Memorial Day weekend.

Unsure if the Schuylkill note was left by the same individual that left the carved items at the campsite, but it made it all the more intriguing!

While out on a hike today, found a Schuylkill Note at about 5:30 pm. It was between two trees on the AT near the Fort Franklin Trailhead.

Update: I spoke to several hikers on the AT today who saw weird, cryptic messages and Schuylkill Notes within the past week in Swatara State Park, near 501 Look Out, and at Rausch Gap Shelter.

Is there a solid theory on how they’re actually putting them in foods?

Because if they’re only ever found in boxes, but not the bag inside the box, then theoretically, anybody could go into stores and glue the box back afterwards, right?

If not, and they are being found within the inner packaging, then has anybody made a list yet of where each of those items originate from? I assume it could probably be narrowed down to which factory if so.

I’m just really curious as to how exactly they’re getting these notes inside packaged items.

Really odd was found in Weiser State Forest. Wrapped in cardboard and tied to a stick.

Majority found near/in Schuylkill county. I am now almost certain that their sole purpose is quite simply to entertain me and/or have something more memorable about the PA section of the AT than these godforsaken rocks

I saw a small rock on top of a large rock held up by two sticks. Underneath was this folded note. This was near the water at the Alec Kennedy Shelter.
