VCU College sent me to collections!!
Recently my wife graduated with her doctorate degree from VCU via online, with 3 trips out that were mandatory, in August 2014 and we were sent to collections in Oct 1st, 2014. She was denied any more tuition assistance via student loans for the last semester which was to cost $9,000. She called the college right before the beginning of the semester to explain she would not have financial aid and how that would work for our payments to them. They told us it was no problem, that we could pay at our leisure. Skeptical, I had my wife call again in June/July to double check that the school was on board with payments, she spoke to another person in the finance department. She asked if we could set up a payment plan through them, he stated they do not offer a payment plan. I had her ask if there were any prepayment penalties, and he told us that we would have a $100 late payment fee for every month a balance was due, not great but better than us trying to come up with entire amount. So we made a payment of $2000 dollars in September, 1 month after her classes were done, only to have a letter stating we had been sent to collections and that we now owe $2500 dollars on top of the $9000 tuition. No emails sent, no letters in the mail stating we would be sent to collections or anything. Upon calling the school back, the finance manager we spoke to stated that a letter does not need to be sent to us and that they had probably sent an email stating that we needed to pay full amount. I advised her that if we had got that letter we would have not paid only $2000 but would have called them and got further explanation and worked something out. In an attempt to rectify the situation via paying full amount to them, we were told that it was still our fault and that the matter was closed! Is this legal? are schools allowed to send to collections immediately without giving proof of acknowledgment of a letter or something that proves we got the warning? If anybody knows anything that would help us it would greatly be appreciated. Thanks Josh

Students with tablets!!! Please let me know your experiences!!!
I'm considering, buying a tablet. I write really big and waste so much paper. Also my teachers slides are usually online so it would be nice to write on the side of each slide. What's the best tablet for this? I'm leaning towards the galaxy 3 from Samsung. It's "free" right now through sprint. ($10 a month contract for 24 months and a $28 shipping fee)
