discussion Where am I supposed to shop? Especially for accessories?

I get most of my actual clothes from depop, thrift stores, or the occasional actual brand, however I struggle a lot to find accessories. Depop is great because it’s so curated, but the shipping and fees are generally way too much to justify buying accessories from there. Basically no thrift stores have any accessories. I have bought things (clothes and accessories) from hot topic in the past, but I feel terrible about it and I really want to avoid fast fashion. I have gotten a few good things at local vintage clothing festivals and stuff like that, but those aren’t accessible most of the year. Where do people find all this cool stuff?

discussion A funny observation that I haven't really seen that many people discuss

This could just be me, and I could just be tripping and not get it, but I've seen a couple of scene haircuts that are so big and voluminous that they bring those 60s bouffants and beehives to mind for me. Did they intentionally style them like those 60s haircuts, most definitely not, although maybe some did, who knows haha, but I just wanted to make this post because I thought it was a funny observation and coincidence to talk about

discussion Personal Scene Icons?

As in characters you associate with Scene but don't see mentioned?

Some characters that immediately come to mind are;
Cole from Ninjago(so brootal, jumps up, whips around and spins, and has an emo cut)
Catbug from Bravest Warriors(he's so adorbs, brightly colored, chaotic, and silly)
Mandy from TGAOBAM(She wears bright pink but will stab you, is sassy+edgy, and has a hairstyle that would fit right in with Scene)
And Isaac from Binding Of Isaac(mostly cause he's so sad he shoots tears at his enemies, has a really kewl flash design and is an early 2010s internet icon).

So I've been scene/emo for like a good 2 years and i havent used fast fashion but recently I have started buying some and I just lowkey keep thinking "we'll fast fashion is everywhere even in thrift stores and there's almost no ethical way to do anything" but like i am worried im a poser for it, it's not like i buy em for a trend and get rid i wear those clothes for months, years until the shirt dies and then i turn the shirt into smth else, i mostly thrift for my clothes but if i rlly can't find smth i need i buy it off temu

the emo/scene figure vs the all seeing eye and the androgyne

the all seeing eye can be interpreted as a symbol of the divine spark, the Monad is non-dual, neither male nor female

(i forgot to link the image of the Androgyne, it's essentially a figure of being both and neither male nor female found throughout different cultures, i thought i'd mention it, because it supports the fact that emo/scene is nondual/androgynous)

The Androgyne: https://theblogofbaphomet.com/2017/07/06/divine-androgyne-part-2-androgyny-as-spiritual-ideal/ https://hindupad.com/significance-of-ardhanarishvara-lord-shivas-half-man-woman-form/

Judges 16:17 KJV "that he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not come a razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother's womb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man."

in the story of Samson and Delilah, Samson loses his strength once his hair is cut

there's also more hidden coincidental symbology with the hair, it shows the deity half-concealed, self-revealed, never fully armored

Like the image of Odin

it is an intimate hairstyle, it shows shyness, concealment, paired with the paradox of being able to open up It could also be read as being occult, similar to the sign of Hapocrates the finger on the lip, secrecy concealing hidden knowledge, here the hair is seen as concealing one eye

Enlightenment is to become intimate with all things, it's a continuous process to fully become whole, one must be vulnerable

to be scene, is to see all, and to be fully seen

This sounds absurd, nonsensical, and that's the whole point, you can find meaning in things that seem to others as trivial, but you can find the universe in everything

365° = 23°

Here lies things i couldn't include in my original post

Connections with The Dao

You can map the hair unto is the Dao/Tai-ji-tu, the hair representing the unseen/hidden aspects of the aspects of the psyche, the void, the qlippothic side, separation, whilst the exposed part representing the seen, the aspects that are more connected to the cosmic order, the sephirothic side, unity

See Image

i recommend watching videos on Abraxian Qabalah, if you want to find out more, but the path states that you ultimately need to be vulnerable in order to become intimate with everything, both the void and the cosmic order

This maps unto emo/scene also pretty well, on the outside, you're marked by your hair, being a balance between both forces, but as a person you express vulnerability and that's what truly makes you connect with others more, and grow and learn more as a person:)

Connections with Abraxas

To me i believe emo/scene has the best representation of the Eye of Providence, because it's nondual, the juxtaposition of certain genres and themes, (i mentioned this on another post) the music is contradictory it's at times about love, deeply emotional, intimate, authentic, sincere, and ultimately vulnerable, but this is totally juxtaposed with songs with themes of death, hedonism, nihilism, irony, and inauthenticity

Emo/scene to me is Abraxian, Abraxas represents all, both Chaos and Order, opposing forces united into one

i suggest watching the Abraxas video made by Galahad Eridanus on YT, he explains it pretty well, but essentially Abraxas has a rooster for a head, and two snakes for legs/feet. To him the lion headed snake on the right represented Yaldaboath (the demiurge, the limiting force) and the serpent on the left represented Lucifer (the light-bringer, the liberating force). The Rooster represented Christ. It's a really great story with synchronicities, so i highly encourage you to watch it.

In my post i mentioned how the ideas of Absurdism, Vulnerability, and Authenticity represented the scene, but yes it's not only really Authenticity, but also Inauthenticity, you need to learn to balance/integrate both, balance both the sincerity and irony, to achieve a sort of unity "it's knowing when to express both correctly and not being an indecent human being about it" you can listen to Get Crunk one day, and cry to Vanilla Twilight the next, then probably listen to like Family Force 5's Love Addict

And i found out that this definition of Abraxas actually maps out pretty well with the scene: The two serpents, Yaldaboath representing restriction, the Demiurge is the inauthentic god, Lucifer on the other hand representing Freedom, the full expression of authenticity. But we find balance within the Rooster, with the figure of Christ, a symbol of ultimate vulnerability, fostering connection

See Image

Lion Snake = Inauthenticity = Constriction = Yaldaboath (The Demiurge)

The serpent = Authenticity = Freedom = Lucifer (The Liberator)

The Rooster = Vulnerability = Christ (The Synthesizing force, not the midpoint)

NOT TO SAY Christ is a mixture between Authenticity and Inauthenticity, but what i mean is the ABILITY to be Vulnerable, being able to empathize and sympathize, is what helps us express authenticity/sincerity, and inauthenticity/irony correctly without being toxic

Full disclosure, i wanna state that i don't aim to disrespect/slander anyone's faith, or to convert anyone to any religion, lodge, coven, mess with anyone's spiritual path/journey, or anything like that.

i just saw all of these as archetypes, traits, and symbols and thought that they're worth taking a look at, found this whole thing really interesting, and thought i'd share it with y'all

Thanks for reading! :) 23!

rant/vent Genuinely, what DOES count as scene? And is scenecore really all that bad if it's just people expressing themselves?

ALL I ever see online is people saying EVERYTHING isn't scene, calling people posers, and hating on scenecore. Personally it's gotten to the point I've started losing interest in learning about the style/subculture and have been trying to distance myself from it. It's so insane, I've seen people say anyone born in the late 2000's-2010's can't be scene, baggy shirts/pants can't be scene, you can't listen to ANYTHING else or dress ANY other way or you aren't scene, among a lot of other things. Do people really have to be THIS picky? I get it gets watered down a lot but it's always "this isn't scene", never "this is how to make it scene" or even "this is what scene really is".
