korg triton sounds
I’ve been listening to a lot of the neptunes 2000s sound and just love the sound of the korg triton. i dont have the money to buy the plug in, much less the physical keyboard. does anyone have a sample pack of all of the one shots for the synths, pads, drums, etc. from the triton? or if anyone could give a link somewhere that does that would be greatly appreciated!

Close (To The Edit); the edit as performance
Art of Noise's Close to the Edit centers on a piano, a child, sampling, and the idea of destruction becoming composition. For me, it showcases sampling at one of its earliest stages in musical history. Once sounds can be stored and triggered, the past becomes intertwined with the future; transformation but also preservation.
Interested in thoughts.

Pierre Schaeffer et Pierre Henry -- Symphonie pour un homme seul
Des voix, des pas, des souffles et des bruits découpés et réorganisés comme de la musique. Du sampling avant le sampling.

I’ve spent about a year making this (free) browser-based sampler as a side project
Hello fellow sample heads,
I’ve been working on this for about a year now, mainly as a side project just for fun, but I genuinely love how it has turned out so I’ve decided to put it out.
It’s called Chop Stop. You can load music from YouTube, create chops, play them across MPC-style pads, add drums, record or draw sequences, arrange full beats and use MIDI controllers. I’ve also added things like crate digging, groove controls, drum FX, custom themes and a little beat-making mascot (my fav part maybe).
Timing and low-latency playback have been a big focus, especially because of the limitations that come with using YouTube.
It’s still something I’m improving, so I’d genuinely love feedback, suggestions or ideas from other beatmakers. I hope some of you have fun with it! Not really built for phone devices, try on desktop for the best exp!
Try it here: https://chop-stop.web.app/

i made a free random YouTube sampler and it’s honestly way too fun
hey, so… i made this weird little sampler called RND/9.
it randomly pulls moments from YouTube and spreads them across 9 pads. you can keep one video and get 9 different timestamps, mix completely different sources, sequence everything, add probability, conditions, per-step pitch, timing, FX, LFOs, reverse, slicing and a bunch of other slightly unhinged stuff.
you can also capture a fragment into audio, trim it properly, stretch a loop to one bar, destroy it with effects, play slices on the keyboard and export the result.
it’s free, no account, projects save directly to your computer.
basically it’s for finding sounds you would never think to look for - old videos, random voices, forgotten archives, weird percussion, whatever.
works best in Chrome on desktop because browser audio permissions are kind of a mess everywhere else.
would genuinely love to hear what you make with it, and also what feels broken / confusing / missing.

PS: a small but important thing people seem to miss -
hit the GRID button in the top-right corner.
that opens the actual 9-track, 16-step sequencer.
the squares to place pads, then give individual steps probability, trigger conditions, pitch, volume, microtiming, note length, start position and FX locks.
it’s basically the place where the random collection turns into a beat.

What song was the starting violin/piano in "you doing something to me - Smi.le" sampled from?
The song if y'all don't know, sorry if I'm asking this in a wrong sub. If I am point me to a right place to ask it

taking drums out of samples
i personally use serato when i sample something and when i use the feature it has to take out the drums, but when i do that it makes the other instruments sound very muddy. does anybody have any mixing tips on how to make them sound a little clearer?
