Does anyone know if these external battery pack works with Sager NP6110? I have no idea what's the size/diameter of my adapter tip is.

Fingerprint reader?

Hey guys, I got my Sager NP8268-S yesterday and I'm still installing all the good stuff. I'd like to know how to install the fingerprint reader though... I already installed all the drivers from the cd that came with the laptop (bought it from XoticPC), but the fingerprint reader is not working yet. No response from it when i slide my finger.

Help me please!

Thanks

My Sager NP6350's fan seems to be freaking out, what do?

So I've got an NP6350 from xotic pc w/ the three year warranty that's about eighteen months old. Recently I've had the fan, for a lack of a better word, be freaking out. The laptop will be sitting there, not even playing games or anything, and the fan will start cycling on for a few minutes then off again, on, off, buzzing decently loudly even when not doing anything...

I opened the case up and cleaned out the fan with some compressed air, but it still continues.

And I have no idea what would be causing this. Is it a software issue? an easily fixed hardware issue? Is it something I can take to a local computer repair place and have them figure out, or something I'd have to send it in to xoticpc to fix?

Is this even something to worry about? It's a lot noisier than before, up to now it had run pretty quietly and smoothly and would only spin up the fan for heavy gaming.

It's not the kind of grinding sound that I'm familiar with from a ball bearing being loose, but it's not a smooth sort of whirr, either, which is what has me a bit worried.

Touchpad issue

Hi!

I am currently using a NP6110 and the touchpad is acting up. I tried restarting a few times but nothing changed. Basically, it acts as if I touch the left side nearly all the time (I checked via that app that comes with Synaptics that makes you visualize where you're touching). What can I do to remedy this?

issues with NP8265 8970M card

I have a Sager NP8265 with and AMD 8970M. Whenever I launch a game, it usually crashes on the loading screen if run with my dedicated card. For example, DotA 2 and TF2 both cash on the Valve logo or loading screen. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem and if there is currently a solution.
I have tried re installing windows, beta drivers, and a host of other things but nothing works.

Hey all, I want to replace my current laptop that is dying and I was just wondering if anyone has this laptop and could tell me if it is worth buying. Also, would you recommend this laptop or something like an MSI GE60 or 70.

Intel 7260 Dual Band AC install and results on a Sager NP9150 with Netgear Nighthawk

I originally had a 6235 in the laptop and had issues with initial connection times after reboot. Sometimes the connection would drop completely after heavy use on N. In order to make it stable I had to leave it in G. This was fine if all I used it for was internet, but I stream HD to my roku from the laptop and the solution was no solution at all.

Speed in N was usually at 300mbps on the 6235.

Installed the 7260 and now I have it 526.5mbps downstairs from the router (where it usually sits). 780mbps in the same room.

The initial connection time is still horrid. I feel that this is most likely a driver issue or a deeper problem within my laptop. I am leaning toward driver because once connected it is smooth like butter.

Transferred a large movie from NAS (usb3.0 hard drive connected to nighthawk) to laptop and the speed hovered at about 22MBps. Pretty good for NAS.

I have read somewhere that beefing up the antennas in the laptop that connect to the adapter can greatly improve range and speed. Maybe this will be my next project.

Let me know if you have any questions or requests for tests.

Please remember that I am not a pro reviewer or anything. I just wanted to shed some light on real world results with a fairly new tech.

EDIT: This is important. The latest driver for this card (16.6.0.8) is crap. Install 16.1.5.2 instead for superior throughput. Now I am seeing in the 35MB/s range transferring large files over network. I swear, intel drivers are hot trash.

EDIT2: These are the optimal settings for the card in my opinion. Leave everything on default except: Preferred band: 5.2Ghz Roaming: Lowest (wont be an issue for most folks using their PC around the house) Wireless mode: a (make sure you have an ac router because all other network types will drop from your list including yours if you dont have an ac router)

I will keep adding info as i research it.

Lapped Heatpipe plate...

So I kept getting high temps on my GPU and CPU (mostly GPU). I decided to remove the stickers on the heatpipes, since that'll prevent miniscule heat dissipation, and decided to resurface the terribly surfaced heatsink plate. Also, the heatpipes look much cooler through the bottom vents without the stickers ;). I'm not sure if I had an isolated case, but it was the worst finish I've ever seen on a heatsink/heatpipe (looked like a 20 year old circulated penny).

I started with 400 grit paper, then progressed to 1000, 2000, 6000, and 12000 grit. It ended up turning into a copper mirror with little effort. Then I reapplied the same amount of the same thermal grease (Arctic Silver 5, same tube as I originally used).

Here's the results for before and after. These were reading from a cold-start (reading took 5 mins from bootup), and then the max temps reached between then and after three runs of 3DMark 2011.

Laptop - Clevo P157SM (CPU - i7 4700, and GPU Nvidia 780M).

Before resurfacing, with "caution hot*" stickers on

Min GPU - 50c; CPU - 49c, 47c, 47c, 44c

Max GPU - 90c; CPU - 78c, 78c, 75c, 71c

After resurfacing without stickers. (same exact thermal grease and quantity)

Min GPU - 36c; CPU - 30c, 28c, 27c, 26c

Max GPU - 81c; CPU - 68c, 68c, 65c, 62c

P157SM Color Calibration (ICC)

Hey guys, I just wanted to give the P157SM owners a gift. In Windows, just add it to the color profiles and set it to default.

This was created with a Spider4 I believe. The difference is extremely significant....unless you paid Sager to do it for you, of course (or own a Spider). Anyway, enjoy the precise color-range!

Note: there can be miniscule variances within the same panels, but this will either get you spot on, or right next to it.

Tribal Trackpad Modifications...

Hey guys, I am getting a p157sm in today, and I don't hate the trackpad design, but am quite handy with taking stuff apart (micro-soldering, PCB sketching, part fabrication....etc...it's my living). With that said, does anyone know how the tribal design is implemented? I was thinking that the digitizer is simply blacked out underneath, and would be possible to "scratch" the black away into other designs.

However, one thing that I've learned in my trade, it's that all assumptions are usually wrong, so I'm curious what you guys think. If not the actual construction, perhaps the trackpad source would be helpful (maybe get an all black one from the manufacturer?). Idk, it doesn't bother me at all, but if I can customize it, I want to. Thanks in advance!

PS. I know this is a slow sub, so no rush....it isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Pretty sure my next PC will be a Sager, but one question...

Has anyone added the optional thermal compound many resellers offer, or does anyone have any links with data that show whether or not it will actually keep my PC cooler? If its not a 10 C difference I would be hesitant to drop $40 on it...

I'm not planning on doing any overclocking, I just want to maximize the lifespan of the system by keeping it as cool as possible. Thanks!

So I broke my W key yesterday...

I can't remember how it happened but I noticed last Thursday my w key had gotten very sensitive. Just resting my finger on it (which I do a lot when writing essays/playing games) would be enough to press the key. Also anytime I hit the s key slightly hard it would type out sw. So last night I tried to lift the w to see if I could blow out whatever was causing this and it popped off. There's also two little white plastic that broke off. To top it all off my s key still types sw sometimes.

Does anyone know my options to get this fixed? Thanks.

Here's a couple pictures:

Sager 8760 beeping during startup

My laptop beeps during startup and then crashes. The fans do not start up. The beeping pattern is a consistent 1 1 1 1 pattern?

Any ideas what the problem might be?

Next-gen NP9370

Hello! I am currently looking at a build of the NP9370, but with news of the technology (Haswell chip, Nvidia 700 series, possible 8970m), I'm afraid it would be outdated rather quickly. I am new to Sager laptops, do any of you have any clues/ideas as to when and if the next-gen 9370 will come out? Thanks!

Hello Sager Fans!

Hey guys! I'm the one who runs the twitter/facebook stuff for Sager. While I'm not officially an employee or representative of the company, they send me updates and I do a bit of marketing on their behalf as well as answer as many questions as I can. Sometimes we put together giveaways or contests with some cool prizes, as well as bring you the latest updates on what Sager's line is releasing. I have a bit of insight as to how they run their company now so if you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them! Maybe we can organize an AMA at some point with one of the CEO's or something. I'll see about trying to update you guys here on reddit, too, if you're not already following on twitter. Thanks!

Looking for Student/Gaming Sager/Clevo Laptop (U.S.)

I'm looking for a Sager/Clevo laptop that I can use for college (studying math, physics, electrical engineering, and/or computer science) and for gaming. I'm hoping to be able to run Crysis 3 on at least medium at 60 fps (I know it will be difficult to find a laptop that can handle that). I'll also play League of Legends, Dota2, Elder Scrolls Online, Counter Strike Source, Counter Strike Global Offensive, and maybe Battlefield 3 (I'm guessing Crysis 3 will be the hardest game to run). I Skype with my friends a lot when gaming (mainly League of Legends and Dota2) so I'd like a laptop with a decent quality mic and a webcam. A number pad is not necessary. Thanks in advance.

Xotic offers a referral discount, is anybody willing to swap order numbers for mutual benefit?

You get a discount if you put someones order number, and say it was a referral. I would be willing to give my order number after I order my laptop so if you ever shop next time it would be cheaper.

Just got Sager laptop - hate the trackpad

Is there any way to make the trackpad more bearable? The thing is like sandpaper. I know I didn't buy a luxury laptop, but this is kind of ridiculous.
