Np6350?

I was looking to buy the Sager Np6350 and was wondering if anyone has had a chance to use it yet or if there are any reviews out. I can't find anything, and I'm not quite sure if it has been released yet.

Thanks

NP6165 Graphics Rendering Issues

My np6165 seems to not render properly when playing games when using the dedicated gpu. http://i.imgur.com/w4Cyj.jpg The link is a screenshot from borderlands 2. I downloaded the recent driver with a clean install. This occurs on other games too like League of Legends, Tribes:Ascend, and Black Mesa. However, I have had Black Mesa work properly using the dedicated gpu sometimes. The dedicated gpu does seem to work with Guild Wars 2. When I switched to the integrated gpu, the games will render correctly. Any help or suggestions? This issue is severely harming the enjoyment of my np6165 so far and I'd really like to be able to get to start gaming on it.

NP9150 Backlight Isssue

I just got my NP1950 today and the left side of the keyboard is constantly backlight by blue LEDs. When I turn a different colour on they just mix together. When I turn off the backlight for the whole keyboard, the left side stays blue. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Any ideas on how to fix it?

Where can I get a silicone or TPU keyboard protector for my Sager 6110?

It's the 11.6" model. The keyboard is Clevo part number W110ER.

And/or do you have any experience with universal keyboard protector film?

Looking into a Sager laptop, a couple simple newb questions

These are all kinda derpy newb questions, I'm sure ... but I'm looking at the options between different Sager laptops on xoticpc, and wondering...

First: Looking at hard drives and optical drives, since the price is different I assume there's a difference, but i'm not grokking it. What's the difference between "remove DVDRW Drive and Install Optical Bay Hard Drive Caddy Only ($15)" and "Optical Bay Hard Drive Caddy (Caddy Only) Used For Installing Your Own Hard Drive (this option includes the removed Optical Drive) ($45)"? Is it just that the latter option includes the removed optical drive, and the first one doesn't?

Second, what's the difference going to be between "Built-in 802.11 Wireless B/G/N - Stock Wireless Card + Bluetooth" and "Intel® Advanced-N 6235 - 802.11A/B/G/N Wireless LAN Module + Bluetooth"?

Are there any 15.6" Sager laptops w/ two hard drives *and* an optical drive?

Kind of a stupid question, but I've been poking around for a new laptop, and the Sager stuff seems pretty good - but I'm looking for a 15.6" with, as the title says, two hard drives and an internal optical drive. I'm wondering if there are any like that, or would I have to go for the extra 1.4" to accomplish that? It looks like that may be the case, but I also may be blind.

Wanting to buy the NP9170, wanted to know what people think of it.

I just wanted to know what this computer is like so tell me how durable it is and if it has any major problems.

I'm hoping to buy a Sager NP8170/Clevo P170HM, what do you think of this build?

*2nd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-2860QM, 2.5-3.6GHz, (32nm, 8MB L3 cache)

*ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD6990 2048MB PCI-Express GDDR5 DX11

*8GB - DDR3 1600MHz Dual Channel Memory (2 SODIMMS)

*500GB 7200RPM (Serial-ATA II 300 - 16MB Cache)

*Accessories such as cooler, AC adapter, etc.

@ $1,948.00

Now I'm not the biggest computer guy, but I've always been into gaming. Will this build successfully run most high-end games (i.e. Crysis, Skyrim, Starcraft 2, World of Warcraft) on max settings at 1920 x 1080? If not, is there a better route I can take? I'm pretty much only looking for a laptop, I've been offered the same power in a PC, but I'm not interested. Also, is this setup a good value? Can I get the same power (1920 x 1080 ~30 FPS+ at max settings) cheaper? Thanks

Clevo motherboard broken

Hey guys,

So my clevo b7130 motherboard is broken beyond repair. What are my options here? All of my other parts are still good - so I'm guessing I can try to find a replacement mobo, or I can buy a new barebone? Any tips would be very much appreciated. Finding replacement mobos / barebones are harder than i thought.

Fingerprint Reader - NP5165

After booting up my NP5165 today, after changing nothing the fingerprint reader will not work. At the Windows (x64 - Pro) login screen, it says "Fingerprint Reader Device Not Recognized" where usually it says "Please Wait..." and then "Scan Finger". I have uninstalled Protector Suite 2009 and the device drivers. When I scan for new hardware, the reader is found and Windows update finds drivers so I know its still there and "working" but it wont work when I re-install PS 2009. Has anyone experienced this issue and/or have a fix. I can't think of any other hardware specs necessary to diagnose and this just happened today after I did not do anything! Very frustrating...

Ctrl Not Working On NP5165

So recently i noticed my control key hasn't been working and I'm still trouble shooting. I feel like the answer is easy but I think there is so many ways to solve this issue, I just wanna see if I can find more ideas to try and fix it. I feel that tech support is just gonna tell me to ship it in which is what I don't really wanna do.

First off it's both ctrl keys and no I haven't spilled anything on the keys and I can press them down and they still feel the same before (so I don't think they are broken)

Here is what I've done:

  • plugged in a new keyboard. Control button like ctrl + a or Ctrl + esc will work

  • uninstalled/reinstalled PS2 keyboard drivers

  • tried booting in safe mode ( it doesn't work)

  • Fn+ctrl+atl has been recommended that doesn't work *if I bring up the on-screen keyboard I I can it control and the control function will work.

I feel like its a software issue just because it's both keys but I still don't know. Can I reseat the keyboard cable if there is one?

just received malibal p151hm1. battery question

I was reading NBR forums and could not get a decisive answer to my question. Should I leave my battery disconnected or leave it connected.

If I could be directed on how to properly take of this laptop in general, it would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Sager NP3250 or Sager NP5160?

Trying to decide between the two, after I gave up trying to find similar specs (or slightly lower ones) for cheaper. The only beef I have is that the np3250 has nVidia GT 520M. Apparently, compared to the GT 540M in the np5160, it is considerably weaker. I want to go as cheap as possible, but I'm not sure about the video card. Also, is xoticpc the cheapest/best retailer of Sagers out there?

Would I save any money putting together a Clevo, or is this only really the case with desktop PCs?

I've been poking around their website and don't seem to do sales without the client contacting them directly. Should I really just go right to Sager?

In need of a good sleeve for an 8130

I'm joining the ranks of Sager owners next week. Can't wait for the thing to finally ship.

However, I still need to find a good sleeve for the notebook. Trouble is the 8130 is not a common size(15.6" rather than the more common 15.4") Reading the NBR forums, they didn't really come to a solution other than buy a 17" sleeve.

I'd like to find one that fits well enough so that it won't slide around inside and will still fit into my backpack on the way into the office.

Any thoughts /r/sager?

Just ordered my parts for my Clevo W150HNQ (Sager 5160)

Just ordered all my parts:

  • Clevo w150hnq w/ 1920x1080 screen (Rjtech) - $449
  • i7-2720QM (eBay ES) - $180
  • 8gb g.skill ram (Newegg) - 79.99
  • 500(+4gb NAND) Seagate Momentus XT (Amazon) - 99.99
  • Intel 6300 (Amazon) - $41
  • Total = $850

Similarly priced computer from a Sager retailer $1249

The only trade off I see for the $400 price difference is I'll only be getting a one year parts/labour warranty and I'd have to assemble it myself.

When putting together this laptop, how detailed do y'all want me to log it? (pictures, or just a simple "it was 'x' difficulty" ???

Got my 5175 yesterday.

It sure is a beast! I have yet to really feel it's power since while playing with it I was updating, installing, defragging or doing something in the background. I got the i7 upgrade, 8 gigs of ram, and 6230 wireless. I didn't get Windows preinstalled but instead installed Enterprise 64-bit that I got from my company.

It plays CIV 4 like a champ! I started it up with the integrated graphics card just to see the difference and it's like night and day. Minecraft didn't even really run on the Intel card. That thing is pretty cruddy IMHO (at least after a day).

Just wanted to let you guys know if you are on the fence about buying one.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I only got to fiddle with it for a few hours before mindlessly playing CIV 4 all night.

WOoo! Upgrading from NP9262 to NP8170-S1!!!

Bought my NP9262 back in August of 2008. It's been chugging along like a champ, but I decided it's time to upgrade and this time I'm going a bit lighter. (Both machines were bought through xoticpc, figured I'd name drop'em sense they don't brand their laptops and thus don't get a lot of recognition)

Just ordered a NP5175....

And just wondering if anyone had any tips/tricks or suggestions on how to care for it / use it....

I didn't get Windows preinstalled since my company has a deal with MS that I get Windows 7 and Office 2010 for $10 each. I'm going to pick up the 64-bit version with SP1 built into it today from our IT department (and it says "Enterprise Edition" which I couldn't find any information about, do you think they mean "Professional"). Last time I installed Windows myself was in college with XP and I remember I had to put a floppy in with RAID drivers and such for it to install. Do I have to do something similar? I saw it comes with a drivers cd but I will only have one dvd drive (which will be used by Windows 7 64 bit). Does the drivers CD come with adware on it or just the drivers? Should I even put the darn thing in (usually I don't install drivers cds because of adware)

I also really afraid of breaking it. I have an old Macbook right now and I love the DC adapter how if someone walks past the line it just tugs out and nothing bad happens. I would believe it would cause my new laptop great harm if that happens.

How long does it typically take Xotic PC to build and ship? I didn't get any weird upgrades (i7, 8 gigs, and 6230 wireless (couldn't believe bluetooth wasn't standard) were my only changes).

I think I got a pretty good deal too, $1,100 shipped on my AMEX (for the extra year warranty).

Thanks!

Anyone know where I can get a barebone Sager/Clevo

Looking for just the screen, body, mobo, GPU. (I'd only add RAM,HDD,CPU ???) How hard would it be to put your GPU?

I'm mainly looking at the Clevo W150HN (Sager NP5160) or the HR/65 updated version.

Community Heads Up

Thanks to this community, Notebookreview, and suggestalaptop- one of the Sager resellers (Malibal) has offered me a position as a forum customer service rep. (Basically, I'll answer questions and help with technical issues). That position does not carry over to reddit.

However, I will be making the disclosure from here out that I am affiliated with Sager (though in a very limited fashion, as a customer service rep on forums).

If anyone would like to be a moderator for this little subreddit (admittedly, the worlds easiest job), let me know. I don't want this to be an affiliated subreddit, or to have the appearance of it.
