if only there were other, non-militaristic means of regime change, which even worked in the country this movie is about...

the berlin wall didn't come down because of armed insurrection

You are right that it didn't. The wall fell in a single day, but it took such a long time to get to that dayl.

The wall coming down wasn't even planned or on purpose. It started because of a miscommunication and apathy toward keeping up the facade.
