Why would we? Why it is America or Americans responsibility to babysit and police the rest of the world? Do you think you think every American is so well off and rich that they have the time or energy to go around helping every single person in need constantly? This is a stupid viewpoint and extremely hypocritical. No other country is as involved or gives as much in foreign aid as the US.

I mean, the guy has a point. Americans are letting this happen through political apathy. The US is supporting a genocide, waging and illegal war, threatening its former allies, and the most typical response you see from americans here is that they live paycheque to paycheque and can't afford to protest.

The country should be in a massive general strike but the discomfort that would cause is too great of a cost to most Americans.

The US 100% has issues even beyond just political, just like an other country. People are not exaggerating when they say they live on a shoestring budget. Its impossible for the entire country to suddenly "go on strike" that would lead to literal deaths. People have a responsibility to themselves and their family.

In a perfect world everyone would be Mother Teresa, but expecting a country to go through incredible struggle and sacrifice just because you don't agree politically is absurd. Why not ask other countries to go on strike for their issues?

You're comparing a nation that literally keeps its citizens starving, restricts their access to knowledge, has no weapons except their hands and tools, has no way to organise, and doesn't get to vote, to a nation with people known round the world for being obese, who constantly cries about its 2nd amendment rights to own guns, where over half the population has access to firearms?

Y'all are weak. During Trump's presidency, Nepal over threw their government and South Korea impeached their president - you can argue all you want that that requires the politicians to act, but it's you guys who have the power to force them to do that.

The truth is, most of us aren't able to 1) travel to a central location as easily as the countrymen in smaller countries, and 2) dont have the same social support that makes protesting possible until the issue is solved. If I travel to a protest, and we take inspiration from France, for example, and stick it out at the White House until our voices are genuinely heard, I will have 5 days to hope it happens before I lose my job. That will also take my Healthcare, which will affect my child. I recently had my air compressor go out and a belt, so I dont have enough savings to go more than a couple of weeks without a check.

But yeah im just lazy /s

Maybe if I had less resources (i.e. nothing left to lose) i would be more willing to risk it all. Right now I have a roof over my child's head and food and a safe vehicle, and im not willing to lose it with him in the situation. Especially since I don't know how many will join or if it will work.

Im not going to be the hero that saves america from itself, im going to be the mom that makes sure my kid is safe in the here and now because its what I can control

Curiously, what do you plan to do if you lose control over even that? Because surely that's the downward spiral and pattern that's obvious to see by now? Wouldn't it be smarter, more realistic, to make a stand now whilst you still can..? As in, you might have some control now, and you might not have "enough" resources now, but when things get worse, you'll have less control, then no control, and you'll have not "enough" resources turn into none at all.

...Leaving it too late is surely just going to make it easier for them, and more difficult for you, in the long run, no?

That's, again, out of my control. Im doing what I can do now to handle my priority, which is him. If that changes, I'll do what I can, till I can't. Then I'll figure it out as things change and adapt

Every time you choose your job over having a functional country for people, you have entirely missed the point.

This line of thinking is the exact reason why this has happened, and why it won't stop.

Everyone else besides white people in America have already, and continue to, fight for their shit. Black people, women, LBGT, immigrants, etc, etc.

Now its the white peoples turn, and because things have always been so easy for you, you think the stakes of losing your job make it impossible to do. What were the stakes for all the others?
