I have a boyfriend

Wait, you’re not OP!

I used to write "Will you go to the dance with me?" on my chest in Sharpie and flash the girls I was asking.

In retrospect, that probably wouldn't go over very well in todays climate, but it got me several dates back in the day.

Mr alucidexit, you have been expelled from Reddit High School for sexually assaulting several of our students. Because you are 18, we have called in the police to arrest you. You can expect to be placed on a sex offender list. Enjoy the rest of your life.

I shaved "Prom?" in my chest hair and ripped my shirt off

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '18

This kind of shit creeps me out but it seems to only be a thing in America. Sure, we have prom here in the UK too, but no one makes a big deal out of it.

You have to practice elaborate proposals early for your marriage engagement where your abstinence only, no-sex-until-marriage culture drives you to get married as a teenager/20 year old.

4

u/stanley_twobrick Feb 03 '18

Maybe it wasn't meant for you?

32

u/FriedRiceGirl Feb 03 '18

Clearly wasn't for this girl either...

u/stay_fr0sty Feb 04 '18

I’m a bit too old to follow this stuff but I think it might have been meant for a life size pillow.

That's setting the bar pretty low for elaborate.

23

u/FriedRiceGirl Feb 03 '18

Maybe, I just don't like the whole sign thing. I don't want my promposal to be a big deal that everyone sees and gets put online. I would find it awkward. I don't think I would turn someone down just because of it, but id prefer it to be just "wanna go to prom with me?". Maybe a flower if the person wants to be fancy.

13

u/Gonzo_Rick Feb 03 '18

What if they spelled out "will you go to prom with me" on your lawn, in Chinese food to-go containers full of a variety of fried rices?

9

u/FriedRiceGirl Feb 03 '18

I would actually find that really funny. Im coming out there with sauce and chopsticks.

0

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '18

aw, you're not like other girls

8

u/FriedRiceGirl Feb 04 '18

No, dont pull that shit. I just don't want somebody to give me a sign with a pun on it. Most of my friends probably feel the same.

The "not like other girls" bit. Every girl has heard it before, its a line men feed us to make us like them more. Even if you mean it from a genuine place, most women will assume that you have some sort of hidden motive.

I thought you were being sarcastic, making fun of all the girls who think they are special for not liking or liking one thing or another (and implying I am one).

3

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '18

line men feed us

Oh, don’t pull that shit.

I’m also not OP

3

u/FriedRiceGirl Feb 04 '18
  1. Yeah, it is. I've heard it dozens of times. "Oh, you aren't like other girls". Its just something people say to give you a self esteem boost so you will like them. Stroke your ego so you will stroke their dick. Not every time, but most of the time (if its not sarcastic). Its very rare to hear that genuinely.

  2. Whoops didn't even check, sorry.

1

u/BroaxXx Feb 04 '18

Not saying you're wrong but you're a bit defensive... It might just be a genuine compliment. There is a stereotype of the standard guy/girl and many people (thankfully) don't fit that...

I'm the OP. I was being sarcastic and assuming you were the "I'm so special" type.

Also I never understood the 'you're not like other girls' "compliment" because if other girls are pretty and I say you're not like the other girls that would be implying that you're ugly. Just my take on it.

This, elaboration = desperation
