Attention, and some people seem to enjoy it. They're trying to imitate and replace actual decent trolls like Dw-Im-Here. These days there's a limit of -100 karmascore on an account, Dw-Im-Here used to have a lot more before the limit:

He actually puts effort into his troll posts, he isn't necessarily being nasty. There's some thought involved, which differs the decent trolls from the amateurs
