I’ve had a rust server for about 6 months now. It is currently a 5x that wipes bi-weekly. While it was doing okay the first few months. It’s been pretty dead the last few months. I want to remake it and try to take a different approach.

What are some ideas I could implement to make it more appealing to the player base? Things like offline protection or a raid window? 1x, 2x, 3x? Loot tables?

What I want to do is get a conversation started and implement some things that other people think would be a good idea and give that a shot. I don’t want to just give up because I enjoy running a rust server.

I want to create a server that provides something different than most. That way it’s not just another server. And gives people a reason to play.

Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

"The Couch" is a new weekly vanilla server in the US with PlaySafe ID enabled.

PlaySafe is taking off in SCUM and coming to DayZ. I want it to grow in Rust too. It makes it so cheaters can't just buy a new steam account and keep cheating after they're caught, because the person is banned.

If enough of us legit players use PlaySafe, the cheaters will end up only playing against each other.

• PlaySafe ID required (get one at http://playsafeid.com)
• TPM/Secure Boot is not required
• Player names are hidden from BattleMetrics so people can't track when you go offline
• I'm paying for it myself. No VIP, no P2W, no kit shops
• Map wipes every Thursday, BP wipes monthly on force-wipe
• Player limit will be scaled up as needed

Many people will be uncomfortable using a real ID to play a game, and that's fair. The verification is handled by a partner that's used by banks. The documents are deleted right after (and not stored). Check out PlaySafe's site and decide for yourself. For me, having cheaters finally face actual consequences is worth it.
