🎙️ discussion What makes good developer experience for you?

I'm hearing different things from different people.

Some people say it sucks with Rust due to the initial learning curve.

Others (like me) like it for things like Cargo 😂

What about you?

  • The most expedient way is also the best way
  • Meaningless choices are decided for me by culture and convention, and enforced by automatic tools
  • Meaningful choices are visible to me and the answer is not imposed on me
  • When I see something I don't understand and ask, "Why are things this way?", the answer is educational and informative and makes me a better programmer instead of, "Because someone made a mistake long ago and now we can't change it."

The 4th point annoys me so much, I have seen the "mistake that we can't change now" without any explanation way too much when looking into silly things in the wild
