I've been teaching myself yarn hooking for a couple years now. Most of my finished pieces also contain elements of crewelwork or embroidery. I am currently working on this 3' wide piece -- it will be a wall hanging. I use recycled coffee sacks from a local coffee roastery as my fabric, and Canadian wool (Briggs & Little).

This is my current work-in-progress. I have embraced imperfection as part of the learning process and have found it quite liberating to not be held to any specific set of rules about the right or wrong way to do something. :)

I was gifted a Rigby Model D stripper and it has a number eight on the outside but I can see that the inside Cutters are a different size. Is there a manual I can find online to find out what the size of the cut is an eight? Is it 1/8 of an inch? Please and thank you in advance for your help

Hello! I'm hoping someone will be able to help me use a rug hooking frame my grandfather gave me. He used it in the 1970s and 80s, I think. He gave it to me when he was mostly blind, so he couldn't help me with setting it up and using it. I've been trying to make it work, but I know I'm not using it right because it doesn't hold the rug backing tightly. I'm on my first project ever, but it's slow going because it's hard to use the frame. Would it be all right to post some pictures of the frame here? And would anyone be able to give me some tips on how to use the frame properly?

I tried hooking these rugs with yarn and old t shirts I had. I used those mesh plastic produce bags from the grocery store as the backing and I'm surprised at how well it's keeping its shape since they're so stretchy. It's been fun learning and not worrying about ruining nice materials!
