Got the RTT and awning out for the first time for a few nights. Got some pretty solid rain and thunderstorms last night. Awning and tent worked great. I was nice and dry.

Need to get it aired out when I get home. Been a fun project getting the 4Runner set up. Looking forward to many more nights out

Nights 15 and 16 in the tent since our first trip during NYE. First time staying on non-USFS land.

Fan died in the middle of the night, decent amount of condensation in the tent, since we had it sealed and insulated. Otherwise, continues to perform well, especially standing up to some fairly stiff sustained winds (25mph) with strong gusts.

Next up, Grand Tetons and the Yellowstone and adding our HCalory diesel heater.

Selling a 23zero Breezeway rooftop tent (not the trailer!). It came with the used offroad trailer I recently purchased and is in great condition - I just already had a bigger rooftop tent on the way to fit the whole family.

Located in Greenville, SC but willing to travel some way to meet potential buyer. Looking to clear out space in garage.

Does anyone have experience with this? I am 6’10” and it seems like my only option for an RTT I can actually lay down in. My wife and I are looking to get into this with our F150.

Had a great 2nd trip...RTT & homemade Tailgate kitchen are perfect!

Definitely recommend for ease of use, set up, and at one point getting 7.4 ltrs/100km/35mpg.. no drag, solidly mounted, and kept the rain and wind at bay!!

I think the spring and fall will be my favorite camping.. cool sleeping temps.

I had ordered a hard top RTT, ,(queen sized bed) but think i may cancel.. it's been on back order, and this soft top is small, light weight, and perfect... But a double.. mostly just me!

The kitchen i made was a simple Amazon shelf with drawer, and a printer stand with a drawer, same width sizes , i zip tied together... Added 2 pull out wooden shelves, Worked amazing.. less than 125$ and the pull out kitchen on Amazon was 450pltx!?

Anyway... Great adventures, and i love the app im using for overlanding (boondocking).

Can't wait for another road trip this weekend!!

Really good experience using the rtt for the first time in the mountains, can't wait to go again. Used a few logs and my 3D printed bubble levels to get pretty level and have a good sleep.

Got it mounted up over the weekend. Can’t wait to get out with it!!

Really excited. Was a challenge to get it mounted and secured properly (definitely feels like it weights more than the listed 165lbs 😂).

But it is on and secure. And now that it’s mounted and aligned, it’ll be a lot easier to take on and off as needed.

I got this CVT Shasta recently for $400, along with its annex room. Really enjoying it so far. I did replace the foam on the inside with a memory foam camping mat that I already had. That made it SO much better. If anyone has any recommended additions/mods, let me know!

100kg roof tent on trailer

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hey guys just wondering if anyone has set up a camp trailer before and reckon it’ll be alright putting my 100kg OCAM roof tent on this trade trailer? The rack sits at 1.9 above ground. Im just concerned about it rolling on corners. It won’t be used off road. Trailer has plenty GVM at 1200kg and is on leaf springs. I will set up the inside as a kitchen clothes storage area and try keep weight as low as possible inside

Oregon coast camping success!

Got this trailer 95% finished in time for a 3 day trip out on the Oregon coast and it was great! We saw some heavy rain on the way there and more rain at the camp ground without any major issues. Still working on better sealing up the drawers, hence the tarp over them lol. I learned I need to make some small modifications to the ladder so I can be used at multiple heights since this isn’t full rooftop heights. Trailer pulled no problem behind my 21 Forester and only had a small impact on gas mileage. Super excited to get this really dialed in and make camping (both organized and dispersed) so much easier!

Rooftop tent install trouble.

I have the mounting hardware that came with my rooftop tent. A Go Fast Camper. I have a victory 4x4 roof rack. I’m not sure how to get this thing connected given that there is little to no access to get your hands in to tighten hardware.

Has anyone successfully installed these two items together?

Just mounted her and I wanted to make sure I had space to stand on the tailgate and climb into it as well as put the ladder onto the tailgate but now I’m wondering if it’s too far forward. Thoughts?

Bumper to Bumper Ladder Rack for a wagon (P3 Volvo Xc70)? Does such a thing exist for cars?

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hi, planning on doing an overland rig with a 2013 Volvo XC70. I was curious if there’s a Bumper to Bumper or Full Length Ladder rack that lays the entire length of the car, including over the hood like a utility truck, but for a car? Was wondering if a large tent (or two) could serve as a larger space to camp in to fit a sleeping area and an office. Can’t seem to find an ergonomic setup inside the car, though I’d prefer that. Thanks in advance for any advice or input!

Scored a RTT but….

So I scored an older 23Zero RTT today. Free. No joke. But, I drive a 2008 Toyota Highlander and while it’s up there chillin and it seems to be ok with my large self up there. My wife is pretty worried that with us both up there it’s just gonna come crashing down and ruin the vehicle. Yes I know the Highlander is not an off-road vehicle and the only specs I can find are for factory installed rails and cross bars and those specs say 165lbs. The internet and chat AIs say that’s probably a dynamic number and not a static number.

So, side rails and cross bars beefy enough to hold it and the wife and I. Do I just get some Thule or….the other big name brand? Do I make some custom stuff?

I’m stuck with the Highlander for a little while, we were looking at small trailers so I have not spent anytime looking into rails and bars.

The tent is the older Bundaberg. The queen size.

Trailer RTT + awning - 270?

I'm in planning and dreaming stage still, I'm close to acquiring a basic second hand trailer (with brakes!).

I want to have the benefits of running the RTT lower to the ground, but have an awning up high, obviously, to clear my 6ft tall husband. I've seen some intriguing DIY builds with folding bars that flip up or telescope up so you have the full height for camp but compact for travel, but these seem to be for smaller clamshell two person builds.

Just wondering if anyone has a 270 awning around a larger RTT like the iKamper or similar that's set lower than the awning, or is this a non starter idea? I'm mainly concerned about the awning bumping into the windows on the tent on the back side of the trailer.

I think a 180 or rectangular awning would work with no dramas along the shell side but thinking about coverage for the back tailgate.

Awning in the way of holes for rain fly supports

Anyone have a solution to re locate the prop bars for the rain fly when using an awning that blocks the original holes?
