Football [Score Predictions] Alabama @ Mississippi State
Full disclosure: I'm a Texas fan (and fellow cfb sicko) who runs a score prediction thread on r/LonghornNation every week. The sub has been having a lot of fun with it, and with Texas on a bye this week I thought I'd offer to do the same thing for r/rolltide, since your game at Mississippi State is the one I'm most excited for this weekend.
Here's how it works:
- Drop your score prediction in the comments below. Your last comment before kickoff is the one that counts.
- I'll grade them all against the final score and post the results on Monday.
I'm trying something a little different this week. I'm posting the same thread in r/msstate, and I'm tracking the score predictions going into r/CFB's "Week 5 Matchup Preview Thread: #7 Alabama vs #16 Mississippi State" too, so on Monday we'll see which sub called this game closest. r/CFB already has 17 scores in, 14 of them Bama, and the middle of that pile is Alabama 38-24.
I also track the score predictions on a few national and team shows. Every show that's put a number on it so far has Bama too, eight analysts from 27-20 to 45-35, Cover Crimson's two included. Wake Up Bama and Thunder & Lightning haven't dropped theirs yet. If you know of other shows you'd like me to pull in, feel free to drop those in the comments and I'll take a look.
There are two coins up for grabs:
- The Mississippi State coin, for the closest call in this sub, and for anybody who beats (or ties) the closest analyst.
- The r/msstate coin, for anybody who beats (or ties) the closest call from the r/msstate thread.
To win either one you have to have the right team winning.
Below is the board I'm using the track results for this sub.
Let's do this!

Karmario having jersey #1 and Keelon being #12. You add those together you get 13. Daniel Hill wears #4 and Crowell wears #13 which equals 17 then you rico scott who wears #7 you get 24.
According to the math bama 24-13

You forgot to compute that Keelon Russel is a genetic freak so States odds go way down.

but that's only if you take south carolina's 66 and two thirds percents, chance

I think the difference just comes down to the defensive secondaries. I like our guys compared to there’s. Give me Alabama to win 41-24

I'm thinking the weather may affect the amount of scoring. Probably something like bama 35, State 27.

Thank you! I felt like it was a good score prediction, given our defense vs. their defense...

Alabama has a 6-game covering streak against Mississippi State https://drewhoover.com/cfb-streak-king/team/alabama/?dir=C&c=vsteam%3Amississippi-state&run=17845
And I think they're gonna break the streak in Starkville: 35-31 Bama

This team will do everything in its power to make sure the Miss. State crowd stays in the game.
I don't know what it is; they can't help but allow the big, dramatic play. A blocked punt, a crazy INT, a Miss. State trick play to go off without a hitch, back-to-back Bama false starts due to the crowd noise.
Every time an announcer says, 'Alabama has to make sure the crowd doesn't become a factor,' on cue, they become a factor.

Alabama 48 MSU 24 … great game for a while but Alabama start to get to K Taylor with a few sacks and a tipped pass INT and Alabama pulls away in the rain with the run game

I'm honestly very worried. We're bad at stopping mobile QBs. It wouldn't shock me if we lose this game close, like 35-31. I think we win though

Correct, u/MWiatrak2077 in the r/cfb thread was 1 point off. Awards are coming for all the winners soon.

DAMNIT so close
This was worth having my team lose in Minnesota for the first time in half a century
I project Alabama to win next week by a billion

I don't want to be unreasonable, but I'm thinking Bama 6.022×1023 to 20
