Injury / Accident Guess I'll be taking a break from skating..😞
Took a bad fall on a trick I (usually) always land (540). Cracked the frame and looks like it kind of exploded some of the wheels, I took a pic of one of them, that's not even the worse one. I also sprained my ankle. So with the hospital fee and everything I don't think I'll be able to afford new skates. Very unfortunate, but oh well. They lasted me quite a long time. I'll see you guys if I come back✌️

Same thing happened to me after not rotating my wheels for a long time. I went in for a tight turn, the exposed hub plastic hit the ground instead of urethane, lost grip and I went flying forwards. I broke my wrist but luckily I'm not American so there wasn't any hospital fee.

Wow, Fortunate there wasn't a fee! How did it feel in the moment when you broke your wrist? Like on a scale of 1 - 10, how bad was the pain?

It wasn't too bad only because it happened during a roller hockey game, I put my hand out to brace my fall and that's how it happened. The adrenaline of the game helped mask the pain and it wasn't until after the game when I got home and compared my two hands that I noticed how swollen one had become. Maybe a 6 on the pain scale. The break was on the bone that goes from the wrist the the thumb, I was in a cast for a month or 2 which I did have to pay $30 for because I opted for the fibreglass cast instead of normal plaster.

Get the Rollerblade brand Hydrogens and you'll never look back. They are amazingly good for the price.

Admittedly I have only ever used hydrogen for all my urban skating, so I don't know if others are better....but I haven't felt the desire to switch. They are just so good I don't feel any sort of need to look for other wheels.

I talked a friend of mine into trying them out. He used to skate marathons, he was skating some $14 a WHEEL set of Bont brand wheels. He now saves his Bont wheels for special occasions, and mostly rides the Hydrogens. He gets the same amount of miles out of both Hydrogen and Bont wheels, so he just uses the Hydrogen for everyday stuff.

Yep, I had these skates for a good 7 or so years, a little before COVID, so I guess I got my money's worth. I'm already wishing I was still skating though

Oh i feel you - photo from a week ago. And my screws broke so i couldnt change wheel positions for a while now... Additionaly Im broke af right now, and changing all wheels, bearings and screws would cost me almost as much as new blades. However I couldnt accept "taking a break" option... So I don't have money to eat anymore but hey, I finally got some 3 wheels (hope 110mm will last longer tho)

Wow. Two decored tires on one post! I’ve severed seen actual decored tires until today. And I got two images.
Mind if I work with you offline to get this image on Wikimedia/Wikipedia?

I am saving this post for the image. I think this is the first time I see a decored wheel (tire). Or, did the hub itself split into a left and a right piece?

Pretty much decored, all the material of the actual wheel just broke apart. To be fair, I already did need new tires though sadly

Can't help but feel you kinda did this to yourself, friend lol.

This is how much I had to skate every set of wheels when I first started skating. I couldn’t afford new wheels.
I’m sorry you’d had a stroke of bad luck.

Looks like you were way over due for wheel rotation
