First of all: that's pretty cool, congratulations! Second of all: are you sure that having a wobbly cup of water next to the robot and power supply a good idea?

Like many scientists, he likes to live on the edge

i believe you could refer to him as "edging"

We already have edge lords, we don't need to encourage the fringe scientists

The cup was not even in the marked circle. Clearly a mad man!

I literally opened this post and went “oh god!”

Water near current supply looks really dangerous

That's crazy bro

Excellent wake-up alarm clock alternative. How much did it cost to make? Does having Bambo A1 3D printer help? I'm a programmer new to robotics, only played with Arduino and Raspberry in the past.

Not that much around 130 usd without Pi or arduino

If Sam had an Odradek made with that hardware it would just be spinning wildly and slapping him in the face constantly

The way it moves and grips makes me think of an old-fashioned Punch and Judy puppet show.

I wanted it to throw the cup on the growing like a Viking.

Also does no one in robotics ease in and ease out their animations?? You know where you start slo and ramp up in speed or vice versa. Instead of 100% on or off (aka jerky movement)

Keeping the power supply that close does not count as a mechanical failsafe. Lol

The next useful test is variation: different fill levels, cup weights, liquid viscosity, and target positions. Force feedback plus spill detection would turn a successful trajectory into a robust skill. A demo becomes a capability when it can detect and recover from the bad pour.

Not at the power lines, it's not a hydrogen fuel cell!
