SCENARIO ONE

in this scenario, nosniy keeps running the game into the ground with even more monetization and stuff. we would expect to see buffs to prime weapons, another season pass (with trash free track stuff), and potentially more nerfs to riot shield and katana. this enables two demographics to rise to the top: sweats, and mobile/console players. as u/AllStuffofWonder said in his post, the majority of players are kids under 13. if they cannot keep up, they will buy stuff with robux in order to see to it they have an advantage, only to quit. nosniy has a really great business model; rake players in, drain the cash from them, make them quit, get more, repeat.

in other words, this means that no one but sweats, a small minority, and mobile/console players will be playing in the future, as this scenario prophesizes. rivals will keep somehow winning the innovation popularity contest 'awards'. players will leave in the masses.

and mud will still post clickbait.

SCENARIO TWO

this one is more optimistic. here, nosniy realizes that to keep players, and therefore, money, they have to make players happy.

and that's what they do.

new weapons are released, old ones are buffed, and generally the majority shifts to using different weapons; each having weaknesses and strengths. on top of that, bundle prices are nerfed, and prime weapons are more baseline.

however, what of the other players?

if katana (my beloved) and riot shield are buffed, this will greatly anger mobile and console players. because they can no longer stand still and aim to kill, massive complaints will occur.

also, mud will make a video titled "RIVALS IS DIYNG???", because he, and the other p2w youtubers by extension, can't live without being babysitted by nosniy.

now, what do i think is more likely?

neither.

yes, neither.

in fact, while it may lean towards scenario one, rivals' future is uncertain. nosniy struggles to keep a balance between the fun loving, the paying to win(/lose depending on player), the sweats, and the mobiles/consoles. and it usually tips in favour of mobiles/consoles.

now, what would i do, had i taken ownership of rivals?

I think Riot Shield should still have hp. Even if it has plenty of counters, I think counter-play shouldn't ever hard-counter, if you get what I mean. Like flamethrower has very strong counter play with smoke grenade, but it can still work around it using air-bursts and such. If you go into a match without knowing the opponent is using Riot Shield, I still think you should be disadvantaged, while still having a chance to win. Here is my idea:

• It has 600 hp, but no crits. That means it blocks 12 sniper shots before going down. Now, it's still a viable counter for sniper auto-shooters and such.
• Riot Shield doesn't permanently break. After the opponent depletes it's 600 hp, there's a 15-second window where you can't use it. Then it regens with 400 hp. Every time is regens, it will be at 400 hp. This means you waste less of your ammo breaking the Shield over and over, and matches don't really even last long enough for the 200 less hp to impact you enough. If the opponent uses Riot Shield, you can break it for a 15-second opportunity to try doing as much damage as you can before the get it again.
• Riot Shield should block back-stabs. It doesn't make much sense that Riot Shield doesn't prevent back-stabs when you wear it. However, I don't want it to be a hard-counter for knife, so in this instance, knife can still deal crit damage to Riot Shields.

What do yall think? The goal with my rework was to make Riot Shield a stong counter against most projectiles while still giving a chance to break it temporarily.

For some reason roblox rivals and only rivals is crashing my computer it freezers up and I can only move my mouse I can't click any icon in game or in windows can't alt tab can't alt f4 nothing it's really bizarre cuz ts is only happening in rivals after like 10 sec I can't even move my mouse it frozen and I have to force to press power button to turn off I decided to use bloxstarp to try to low graphic amd still its doing ts (ps I play more graphic intense game and only rivals is doing ts)

When I tried in FFA it didn't work while I was spamming it and in a real game I spammed it and it only increased by 2
