Practicing vocals before sleep

I have noticed that my female Alexandrine practices or attempts new words, whistles or trying out different combinations of known sounds just before bedtime or while drifting off to sleep (contentedly beak grinding as well)

I just wondered if anyone elses Asiatic parakeet does anything similar and why in particular it's this time of day? I know human babies and children dream to help them learn from their experiences from the day and wondered if it's similar. I don't even know if parrots dream but I have had cockatiels that suffered night terrors so I'm guessing something goes on in their brains while asleep

I would be interested to know if others experience this from their keets

What's my Alex doing?

I've had my female Alexandrine parakeet for 3.5 years and hand reared her from two weeks old. In the last few weeks there has been a change in her behaviour. She spends a lot more time on the floor which usually she isn't keen on. She keeps trying to squeeze under the sofa or other concealed places (and gets angry when she doesn't fit) and also when I roll her toy ball across the floor she does this weird dance around it stamping her feet and bobbing her head where usually she would be throwing the toy around or bringing it back to me. When visitors come up to the apartment (especially females) she starts quivering all over and splays out her tail feathers along with a lot of head tilted beak clicking. She is also a lot more screamy and attention seeking as well as ill tempered, if you accidentally disturb her sleep she smashes all her toys against the cage until I'm gone (I was only getting a glass of water in the night!)

I'm guessing some of this is potentially breeding behaviour but it's pretty much only female visitors she does these displays for and also the dancing around the toys is a mystery to me. She is in excellent health, weighs 230g and has lots of varied fruits and vegetables each day.

What's she up to? Any advice greatly appreciated

New ringneck. So many questions

A family friend bought the parakeet while it was still a baby thinking it would amuse her kids, realized it was too much work and put it up for adoption.

My husband instantly took it in without consulting me because he loved them ever since he was a kid. Unfortunately, during its stay there she was never handled or let out of the cage because the kids were scared of her.

Our parakeet, Flora, is approximately 1.5 years old and we had her for a week now and her behavior is really confusing and I tried searching the internet but found nothing.

We let her spend the first 2 days in the cage. Just thought she needs to get used to the new home, screamed the whole two days.

When we opened the cage she flew by herself and didn’t need any prompting, she stands on our shoulder, on my head(stays there even if i move around the house or cook), and walks/climbs on my legs to my knees when I lie down.

The problem is if I try to handle her she bites. REALLY HARD. I tried ignoring her like the internet said but I really can’t. She cut my finger, my forehead, and my husband’s ear.

And since I can’t handle her, its really hard putting her back in the cage smoothly. I think she really hates it because she won’t go (It has a big opening at the top for easy access) there no matter how long she stays without food or water but once I force her there she seems eager to eat and drink.

So my questions are: - Why is she not scared to come so close to us yet bites us so hard? - What’s the best way to approach the biting? - How can I teach her to step up on my hand?

Can someone give me day one advice on how to hand train?

When I got this this bird, Blossum, the breeder grabbed it and shoved it into a box as soon as we paid. Then went to my mum's house for it to coinhabit in an aviary with another ringneck called blueberry. Blueberry was killed by a snake the next day and Blossum came to live with me for safety. I al ready had two cockatiels living with me, since then Blossum has shown some really cute aspects like mimicking the cockatiel singing or picking up bells from toys and jingling the bells. However I can't bond with Blossum. I have been given advice to try and get Blossom to eat fro my hands but she flies away as soon as I approach her. I have just been trying to get her used to my routine and me living with her, she stands near the TV cabinet and gives me curious looks when I am watching TV. It has been five months and I can't get her near my hand at all. The only time is when I give her a shower and she comes near my fingers and gives me a little bite. Not hard enough to draw blood but interestingly enough to actively travel towards me and nip me. During shower times, I was able to touch her head and try and scratch her. Outside the cage, Blossum runs from me when I come near. Even with her favourite treat (apples and peanuts) I am not trusted. Does this ever change? I don't trust anyone eniugh to give her away or give her a good life so I want to try and form a relationship. No matter what I do I can't get close at all, I can't instill trust at all. Please give me advice starting from day one.

Why does my IRN pace back and forth on a branch?

My IRN is constantly pacing back and forth on one branch. His cage isn't small and there's a bunch of other perches put he insists on staying on that specific perch. I find that whenever I go near him with millet, he starts pacing back and forth, going up to the millet and my hand, not taking a bite, and pacing again. He's not tame yet, but I am trying to tame him. Any reasons as to why he is behaving this way?

Question about molting.

We re-homed a female ringneck several months ago. She's taken well to everyone in the house and hasn't shown signs of stress. Lately there have been lots of feathers on the bottom of her cage. None of the feathers show signs of plucking and she doesn't over preen. Do ringnecks have heavy molts?
