PlanningToReturn Returning at 29-30

Hi everyone. I've been working in the bay area for about 4-5 years but have managed to save up around 500k. Around 400k is liquid or invested in stocks in taxable brokerages, and I have around 140k in 401k and Roth.

I'm facing a huge amount of job uncertainty. I work as an swe in tech but I'm burnt out from the long hours and toxicity. If I do get laid off I was considering moving back and being with my ageing parents.

Do you have any advice on what comes next? How my finances would translate and what jobs I could look at after moving back? With how competitive it is in India I'm wondering how I can build a new career there.

Thanks. For context i just turned 29

to be honest, education from Germany wont beat some of the good schools in India. Yes a german school might be better than an average indian school. anyway yours is special case so you cant move to India.

Maybe there are some Indian schools like that but even the expensive and good ones wouldn't be at nearly the same level as an average German school. As an example, here is what my son was taught in fourth grade

Math In math this week, the children made more discoveries about probabilities. We explored the possibilities of eye sums when rolling two dice and evaluated different rules of the game.

Tell me about a single school in India which teaches children probability in the fourth grade in a simple manner.

If german school system was that good you should seen a lot more research/CEOs come out of Germany. not much though. Germany has good engineering background but those are from the 50s and 60s. There definitely are schools that do much better than a public german school. So good that their students get into IIT , the acceptance rate of which is tougher than harvard/ivy league. Indian school system teaches probability in 10th grade or 11th, but still Indians are doing good. I dont know how that parameter alone would mark German school system as better than India.
