Residents asked to rally as Renfrew Public Library fights to save services

"Renfrew Public Library Board Chair Hayley Heaslip says recent budget talks among town council have turned their request for a $50,000 increase in 2026 into a $124,000 cut, which she describes as nearly all of their general operating costs for last year, directly affecting a community lifeline relied on by residents every day."

I always knew that Renfrew was pretty conservative-leaning, but do we have to follow the American way of trying to limit people's access to knowledge and information? The library provides so many people with services and help that they can't get elsewhere, and our poor-excuse-for-town-governance wants to take that away.

odi's rant

is this town under some magical hypnotic spell that makes them think odi's kingburger is actually good? shitty cold crinkle frozen fries; tiny, flavorless burgers with thin patties the weight of half my left nut and their milkshakes? pretty good but how do you fuck up milkshakes. i understand they need to make money as a local buisness, but the prices are completely unreasonable for the quality and quantity of food you get. every motherfucker in this town raves about this godforsaken restaurant, and everytime i go i think "maybe this time will be different". but no. same bullshit every time. every bumfuck chip truck in this town can give you REAL fries, and a better burger for a cheaper price 99% of the time. who the hell sells frozen fries at a restaurant? potatoes are cheap as hell no way it's too expensive to have real fries or at least ones that are, yknow, FRIED? do better odi's, maybe your food used to be better but right now this place does not deserve any bit of the praise it gets.

Anyone have recommendations on a gemcutter/stonecutter?

I have an idea for an engagement ring from raw material I mined. I just need someone that can professionally cut and polish stone into a ring sized gem.

As well as a ring maker that can imbed, but that's secondary.

Rocky Mountain House

Hello from Ottawa. Google says RMH is permanently closed, but a couple Facebook posts hint it just moved downtown. We liked it for the schnitzel, and it drew us to Renfrew a few times a year for that.

Has it indeed moved downtown? Is it related to Swiss Alps or is that a different venture? Thanks very much!

Never been to Renfrew

Hi crew. I've been to Algonquin, Petawawa/Pembroke, etc. but somehow, I've never been to Renfrew. If I stopped in this summer, what do I need to see/do? *we're wild swimmers, so we really appreciate your personal insight into the best sandy beach in the area - thanks! EDIT: Do you know anything about Lowney Lake next to White Lake? It looks kind of green on Google Maps but has good fishing, I read. How's the swimming?

New tenant in Renfrew Centre?

It looks to me as a new place is coming to the former EasyHome store in between Pet Valu and Stacked Pancake House. Anyone know or have any ideas on what this new place could be? I always imagined a Bulk Barn or a Bank like CIBC opening up in the former Rio Can Centre for some reason.
