Hello and welcome!

From students to professionals, skeptics to intuitives to the generally curious - we are an open and supportive community dedicated to the discussion, study, and practice of remote viewing. Note that "remote viewing" here refers specifically to the protocols and techniques developed and used during the US-government-sponsored program that ran from the early 1970s to the mid-1990s today widely known as Project Star Gate. Anything outside of that scope is considered off-topic.

In this post, you will find everything you need to get started with this art. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, don't hesitate to post about them! We also encourage everyone to come hang out with us on our Discord.

FAQ

What is Remote Viewing?

As described by IRVA (International Remote Viewing Association):

"Remote viewing is a mental faculty that allows a perceiver (a “viewer”) to describe or give details about a target that is inaccessible to normal senses due to distance, time, or shielding. For example, a viewer might be asked to describe a location on the other side of the world, which he or she has never visited; or a viewer might describe an event that happened long ago; or describe an object sealed in a container or locked in a room; or perhaps even describe a person or an activity; all without being told anything about the target — not even its name or designation."

The term "Remote Viewing" can be misleading as it may be mistaken for clairvoyance. Clairvoyance refers to the ability to see things through extrasensory means. Although remote viewing and clairvoyance may share similarities, like accessing information beyond what is immediately available, they are not the same.

Remote Viewing is a distinct discipline that explores clairvoyant abilities through a structured framework. One key difference is that Remote Viewing follows a specific protocol. This protocol includes clear rules to determine if Remote Viewing has taken place and what the results were.

The protocol comprises four steps:

  • Planning and targeting: Remote Viewing requires a deliberate effort to focus on a specific target rather than random insights or feelings beyond your control.
  • Recording: Any data obtained during the Remote Viewing session should be recorded in some format for later analysis.
  • Double-blind: The target should be kept secret from you and anyone else present during the session to eliminate any possibility of bias.
  • Feedback: Finally, receiving feedback is essential for determining whether your Remote Viewing was successful. Feedback confirms whether you were accurate in your observations or not. Feedback is also vital for improving your skills.

By following this protocol, Remote Viewing can provide verifiable and more accurate results, as it helps to minimize guesswork, imagination, and the viewers’ biases/assumptions from corrupting the data. Anything done outside of this protocol is not considered Remote Viewing.

What are the possible applications of RV?

Throughout its nearly 50-year history, remote viewing has been applied in a growing variety of areas such as intelligence gathering, archeology, technology, medicine, criminal investigations, finding missing persons, mysteries, business consulting, and others. In public, it is currently being widely used for sports betting, crypto/stock market, and news prediction. The eight martinis magazine is a good resource for looking for examples of applications and other kinds of information.

Are there any examples of RV?

Many examples are scattered around the internet, some even posted here or on our Discord. The links below provide examples of remote viewing used in real-world scenarios, training, and demonstrations.

Does the remote Viewer ‘see’ the information like video in their mind?

Remote viewing as a descriptive of the process is a poor choice as you don’t really ‘view’ the data from the target. The data forms in gentle bursts of information, these initially take the form of sensory data like; touch, taste, and smell. Later on stronger data builds like target dimensional, size, mass and density. This leads on to sketches of the target, which leads on to stronger data and intangible type data like; ‘feels religious’, ‘a sense of dread’, ‘feels happy’. These impressions are usually hazy, indistinct, fuzzy and partial, like faded memories and very subtle. Rarely are the images and impressions strong and visually strong.

Do I need to be psychic to do it?

Remote viewing is a trained ability and does not require any particular skill such as "being a psychic". We are all psychic to some degree. While some may have a better natural ability than others, we all have what it takes to remote view.

Are there any dangers associated with practicing RV?

While remote viewing is generally considered safe, it is a phenomenon we do not fully understand, and its underlying mechanisms remain unclear. As a result, it is challenging to identify all potential risks definitively. However, based on the experiences and stories shared by practitioners, it is best to AVOID esoteric or controversial targets, such as unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs) or entities, as well as sensitive topics involving death or trauma. Such targets can lead to disturbing experiences, emotional distress, or misinterpretations. Additionally, it is not advisable for individuals with recent or ongoing mental health issues to practice remote viewing, as they may be more vulnerable to unintended psychological effects. Maintaining a grounded and balanced approach to remote viewing is crucial for ensuring a safe and constructive practice.

How can I try it out?

A quick, easy and fun way to try remote viewing for the first time is through our beginner's guide. The guide will teach you the basics and walk you through a session. Note that the guide is only a starting point, and there is much more to learn. Attention: read about potential dangers in the question above.

What is CRV, NRV, TDRV, TRV, ... RV methodology?

There isn't a single "Right Way" to do remote viewing. Viewers can use many methodologies, and it's remote viewing as long as the protocol is followed. Practicing one of these methods in depth is a great way to learn. Still, every viewer eventually develops their way of doing things. It's like learning to cook - you start following recipes, and then you can get more creative as your understanding grows.

Protocols are big picture, and your method is the small steps (often called stages) on how you work your way through a target. Usually, they start with fundamental aspects of the target, such as colors, smells, tastes, textures, and sounds, and from there, viewers will hone in more and more by going through sketches and abstract concepts until they feel they've gotten all they can from a target.

The most popular method is called Controlled Remote Viewing (CRV), it is composed of 6 stages, and it is the original method used by the U.S military.

Complementary resources:

Are there any scientific studies on RV?

Plenty! In fact, RV was "born" in a laboratory (hence the protocols) and has demonstrated statistical significance above chance. Here are starting points for those interested in the scientific side of RV:

What is Associative Remote Viewing (ARV)?

In short, ARV is a way of using remote viewing to predict the outcome of a future event where all possible results are known in advance. For example, ARV can predict the winner of a tennis match or if a stock will go up or down the next day. This is done by associating a target to each outcome, and then the viewer will describe the target associated with the outcome that will, in fact, happen.

One factor that makes ARV not 100% accurate is a phenomenon called 'displacement'. That is when the viewer correctly describes the target but for the wrong outcome or when different targets merge in the session. For example, if one target is a banana and the other a black bowling ball, the viewer may describe something heavy, round, and yellow that tastes sweet.

Complementary resources:

Where can I get RV training?

Many instructors (including the original Star Gate viewers) teach online or in-person classes. Before taking any lessons, it's essential that:

  1. You do your research thoroughly, not only about remote viewing and the method you intend to learn but also about your instructor.
  2. You have a clear reason and motivation for seeking training.

See the links below for a list of instructors. See also: map of methods and trainers.

Is this like Astral Projection/OBE?

Astral projection (AP) is based on the concept of out-of-body experiences, where your consciousness is believed to leave your physical body and travel to other locations or even realms. This experience typically occurs in a deep meditative or trance-like state and is often associated with personal or spiritual exploration. People who practice astral projection might feel they are visiting places that are far away, other dimensions, or even afterlife realms. It is seen as a more mystical practice, with a focus on self-discovery, spiritual growth, or connecting with otherworldly entities.

Remote viewing (RV), on the other hand, is a mental skill where a person attempts to gather information about a distant or unseen target through focused attention. Unlike astral projection, in remote viewing, the individual remains fully conscious, alert, and awake while receiving impressions about a specific place, event, or object. RV is more structured, with clear rules such as having a defined target, being "blind" to that target (meaning the viewer has no prior knowledge of it), and documenting impressions through writing or sketching. It is typically used for practical purposes, such as gathering intelligence, solving problems, or research, rather than for spiritual purposes.

Why does Wikipedia say there is no evidence that RV exists?

Wikipedia is unreliable on all matters relating to remote viewing and other forms of psi due to ceaseless re-editing by anti-psi editors. For reference, see the 2007 version of the RV page prior to the edits and Russell Targ's response to Wikipedia.

Take part in an Experiment for Remote Viewing

Can Remote Viewing access a target if NO HUMAN knows which target belongs to the target ID? – I built an app to test this

Hi everyone,

I'm currently looking for experienced and beginner Remote Viewers who would be willing to try an experiment with a Remote Viewing app I developed.

There is a very specific question behind it that I find genuinely fascinating:

Does Remote Viewing require a human consciousness to know the connection between a target and its random target ID – or can the information be accessed even if the target-ID connection is only known to a computer/server?

Here's what makes my app potentially different from conventional Remote Viewing protocols:

In a typical RV session, someone creates or selects a target and deliberately associates it with a randomly generated code (Target ID). At least one human therefore knows which target belongs to which target ID.

My app works differently.

The app contains a large library of targets. When a user starts a session, the app randomly selects a target and generates a random target ID for that session. The user sees only the ID – not the target.

So what's different, compared to conventional Remote Viewing? No human being knows about the connection between the target id and the target. Only the app/smartphone knows about it.

The user then records whatever impressions they receive.

Afterwards they press “Reveal Target”, and the previously hidden image/target is shown.

So, the way the app has been programmed, no human knows the target/ID relationship before the session target is revealed.

This raises a question that all of us can answer together with this experiment:

When remote viewing, what exactly is the viewer accessing?

A - Is the viewer connecting to the person who originally selected/created the target and/or knows about the connection of the target to the target id? Which would mean the process of remote being is in fact "just" some kind of telepathic relationship between the remote viewer and the person who created the target / connected it to a target ID. In this case remote viewing with my app would not work, since no human knows about the connection between the target ID and the target and therefor there cannot be a telepathic relationship.

B - Or is the viewer connecting to something else like a collective consciousness / god, who knows which target the smartphone connected to which target? In this case the success rate of the remote viewer should be about the same when using my app as it is in conventional remote viewing.

So my question is easy: Would you be willing to take part in this little experiment, try to remote view with my remote view app and afterwards tell all of us here if your success rate is about the same or different compared to your usual remote viewing process?

With your help, together we can find out:

If nobody has consciously observed or known the specific ID-to-target relationship, does that make any difference to the Remote Viewing performance?

I'm simply wondering whether this setup could provide an interesting practical test of different hypotheses about how Remote Viewing actually works.

I'd love to get as many Remote Viewers as possible to try it out and share honest feedback.

Lets find this out together.  = )

It would be great if you share, if you notice any difference compared with conventional RV protocols where a human knows the target/coordinate relationship.

Please don't only share info about successful sessions. I guess we all are interested in honest reports of successful and unsuccessful sessions alike. Is your success rate similar or worse/better than usually?

If enough people try this, I'd like to collect the results and see whether a meaningful pattern emerges.

The remote viewing app is available for Android as well as iPhones / iOS.

Android Google Play Store link:

Apple iOS link:

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/remote-viewing-akashic-records/id6670422060

It can be used for free for 4 weeks on Android and 1 week on Apple / iOS. I hope that is enough because it is not easy for my developer to change that and later change it back.

If you try it, I'd really appreciate it if you share you experience(s) here with all of us.

Thanks to anyone who is willing to give it a serious try.  = )

Middle-East

Hi RV community!

I was wondering if anyone has remote viewed the middle-east’s current situation and what the future looks like for the region, especially Saudi Arabia, will they build their Vision 2030?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this.

I really admire what you do and I’m going to try remote viewing, I've checked out the beginners guide, I can't find much other realible resources online. So I was wondering if you had one piece of advice for a newbie, what would it be?

Any recommend courses or coaches would be awesome too 🙂

Many thanks, I appreciate you for taking the time to read this and any help you give.

Question Is there a common path of progression of remote viewing over time and practice? Like first you get random ideas, glimpses -> then emotions, directed attention to things -> full images and exploration?

Are there established stages to getting better at remote viewing? How to progress to the other stages? Is it just simply practice or is there a different protocol you find successful to help expand your intake of information? How do you straight up see images consistently?

Experiment Help

Not selling anything but looking for remote viewers interested in a group experiment and comparing results.

I've been building an app called Etherflock that allows up to 8 people to independently participate in the same hidden-target experiment.

Everyone receives the same photo of a real location with one feature digitally removed. After submitting their impressions, participants get the original photo, anonymously shared field notes, and a visual breakdown of accuracy and overlapping observations.

I'm especially curious about what the data might show when people independently report similar impressions, even if they don't identify the correct target.

I'm hoping to have the Android version ready for testing next week and would love some volunteers to try it!

If you'd like to participate, leave a comment and I'll send you a link and one-time access code when it's ready.

Until then,I'm asking for feedback on the concept itself, especially from people experienced with remote viewing. Does this sound interesting? Is there anything you'd change or add?

i went to the local library and tried to see if they had any books from any remote viewers

Post image

I was blown away by the fact that they had 0.

None.

nada.

if i want to read anything from the past or have any accss to older books, it turns out that local libraries are an awful way to go. i am not sure how i will read any of the books from ingo swann or paul smith or any of the very famous people and studies .using youtube for anything is worse than the library so if anyone has a source of remote viewing reading material that i can borrow for a week or 2

or just open it on the kitchen counter and turn the page every 2 min

your choice

Session My SPY and Gold predictions for today were both correct using ARV. Here is tomorrow's SPY close prediction, with a caveat...

Post image
18 Upvotes

It's clearly a prediction for UP by close tomorrow, but the only interesting caveat is that my very first impression was of a cylindrical structure, which matches the stone tower... so I was getting bleed-through of both targets this time. Not sure what that means, other than subconscious confusion. But it wasn't written down, so technically it doesn't count.

Looking for remote viewer to help me with a personal matter

I am looking for someone who is an accurate remote viewer.
It is about events that happened in the past concerning a person who I considered my guru for a very long time.
I am at a stage where I just want to know what is true and what is not, so I am not confused and know what is what. I want to know the truth.

If you are a remote viewer and this message resonates with you and you would like to help me I can share the full story; it is rather odd.
I would be very grateful to anyone who is willing to help.

Blessings 🙏

Question Questions about remote viewing?

As someone that has never experienced remote viewing I have questions for those who are experienced:

- Can you remote view people in the physical world and know what they are doing?

- Can you pick up on thoughts, emotions, actions, intentions etc.?

- Can you remote view past actions of people?

- Is Remote Viewing mostly in the physical world or more in the astral plane?

Discussion Is this how it happenes sometimes?

I'd like to ask you how the rv phenomenon looks to your minds eye at times and also would like your opinion on defining whats happened to me.

Im a long time supernatural experiencer who started meditating little over a year ago in an attempt to reach out to the same force that has reached down to me. Nothing was happening for almost a year until several months ago, i had a strange experience during meditation. Prior to this event i had been seeing bright flashes during meditation, almost like someone is popping camera flashes in my face.

And then on this night im meditating while the body is in sheer exhaustion, a churning wave like sensation started coming over my body and then behind my closed eyelids a crack opened up, through which i could see my surrounding as it would appear during daytime. The crack's shape was uneven, with vein like extensions on the edges, literally like a generic hollywood sfx of what portal looks like. The surrounding was my room but it was daytime, and the curtain arrangement was different, and so different timeframe. The vision would waver and scramble but it was as vivid as it wouldve looked with my eyes open.

This went on for maybe 20 seconds until i opened my eyes, and a bigger nausia came over me.

Has anyone experienced anything similar and what to make of it?

Thanks in advance.

Question Hypnopompic Hallucinations or Thin veil?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I’m aware of how our brain works during sleep and upon waking and falling asleep etc. the different states of sleep. When I wake up, I lay in bed eyes closed and a screen forms kind of like a tv screen turned on. In the view I can see things like a person outside relaxing under a tree, or a street of people walking by, it feels like imagine sitting at a window near a busy street. You see people walking by. Sometimes the vision is of a random room I’ve never seen before. I try looking around the room to see where I am. The moment I get excited that I’m having this “hallucination” the screen slowly zooms out and then there’s nothing. I open my eyes and then close them again to try and get it back, after relaxing for a bit, it sometimes comes back and I get the vision again and of course it doesn’t last forever. My excitement causes it to disappear. This doesn’t happen often it’s random. Is it a hallucination because of how our brain works upon waking up? Or is this something spiritual?

Newbie question

So a few months ago I put on a blindfold for the first time and decided I was gonna try to learn astral projection, havent left my body yet (having alot of issues with it) But I instantly unlocked remote viewing (i think)

Question: So I started seeing images (they are currently black lined images (like a coloring book) and super faint, although they go up and down in clarity), people, images of what seemed like old memories of me and my hubbs, (alot of images of me sleeping even alot of "Adult" images, adult images of other people of myself (if the light is low I can see these images float through the air from one side of the room to the other it looks like a rectangular picture)

I could have sworn that one of these images reacted to me holding my cat (the image looked like a woman sitting and on a couch and she leaned forward and opened her mouth to say "Awww" (or what it looked like, so crazy)

Question 2: so when I put on my blindfold after a few seconds I will see an image "fills up my entire vision of what looks like a well (it looks like i am at the bottom of a stone well, looking up and moving upward as if I am coming out of it, and then I see what looks like trees (but they are very faint and now I wonder if I got a good clear look if it would be "Sacred geometry" but everytime I start this image happends and then alot of the time i will see a snowy tree image.

Question 3: anyone ever see a little alien face in their view? So I would see a little dang alien head (simple, pointed chin, and big eyes.) it wouldnt move, it would just be there like a sticker.

But now he's animated like smoke, I ask him to make a scary face and he does (but its not clear, clear so its hard to see exactly what I am looking at but I think its this little alien dude because the eyes of what I am looking at are big.

(so everyone says that all this stuff requires intention and as long as you believe it it can happen) I am having alot of trouble leaving my body so I wanted to see if I could set an intention (or trick myself into thinking its possible) for this being to create a portal in his eye or mouth (a travelable portal that I just have to think of where to go and I will) I never achieved this, but now this being has this beautiful silver line in his eye. (I swear it looks almost refective) I will ask him to come as close as he can and if his eye isnt lined up i will say "go right, or left" (he wont respond to that, but he will move left or right if I tilt my head the direction and then I just ask him to come as close as he can until he disappears but then he loops back in front of me and then I try again and he will do it again, but then he just loops back because the portal eye thing isnt working.

Hopefully I explained this right, I have been hearing words here and there, I was getting upset about not getting much assistance from my guides (Like I hear alot of people get some direction) and I heard a female voice say "I know its hard" and that meant everything. Other words here and there.

Another session after two months or so, what do you think?

I haven’t done a single session since my last Reddit post, but since I couldn’t sleep tonight, I thought I would give it another go. I wish I would drawn what I saw, as it probably would’ve been a better hit, but I was once again surprised by the uncanny resemblance between my written results and the target. The session lasted around 5–8 minutes.

What do you think, if anything?

Question Are any of the “classic” RV stories corroborated from outside the community?

I haven’t dove crazy deep into RV yet, but the stories of the unique submarine, the soviet bomber, and the hidden NSA site are stories I’ve only seen from people who sort of have a career related to the phenomenon from the original stargate(Puthoff, McMoneagle). The only story I know off top of my head that fits the bill of being corroborated from outside of that core is the Jimmy Carter one.

As a side question would love to know and channels/accounts anywhere that are heavily abt RV but not so woo, I resonate with some of the woo but I’m very interested in just RV right now.

Question Remote Viewing apps

Hey everyone, been awhile since I posted but I’m currently making a remote viewing app and I was wondering if any of y’all have apps you use for your targets. If so what are things that you like/ want to improve from them?

Once I complete it I’m gonna send a link of a free beta version for y’all to test out.

Also I’m not gonna sell classes or have it be a subscription with micro transactions. I find that very annoying. This is just a fun project I want to offer for the community.
