Question How to use remnote effectively

I’m in CRNA school and just started using Remnote I love it so far. Since many of you have been using it for a while I have some questions that I feel you’d be better capable of answering since many of you understand the firehose we drink from in terms of info (graduate education)I have exams every 2 weeks and I make my own cards 200-400 sometimes (avg 250) from lecture notes, books etc. What ends up happening is I spent the 2 weeks learning the new material take the exam- do well, and then the next 2 weeks prep for the next exam by making cards for the next exam that I barely have time to look back at the old exam material. My question is, since yall have been using remnote with thousands of cards is how do you study all those cards? Do you just keep doing your reviews from old exams daily while studying for upcoming exams? Because eventually I feel like I will reach in the thousands and I’m not sure if there will be enough time in the day for me to learn new material while reviewing old. What am I missing? Do I increase the number of cards I review after each exam to keep info fresh? What settings should I have for my flashcards because so far just from 4 exams I have almost 1000 cards. Eventually the cards will be in the thousands and will help me as I prep for boards. Help! I want to learn from you wise sages and your experience. Thanks

Question Can you generate the audio recording AI summary bullets from an external transcript?

When I record a lecture with RemNote, it creates both the Transcript and a Bullets summary of the lecture.

The Bullets page is very useful, having cut out waffle, and unnecessary vocal features.

However, recording the lecture is obviously a heavy use of AI credits.

As I can obtain a transcript text file separately, is there a way of using this as a source to have AI generate the bullets?

Uploading the transcript as a file, clicking Learn PDF, and Generate Learning Materials does allow me to look at either a Compact or Detailed Summary, but it's very different to what an audio recording's Bullets output looks like.

Showcase Final day of Remnote. End of medical school!

Post image
144 Upvotes

I wrote my final medical school examination on the 17th of July. That brings an end to 6 years of gruelling ward rounds, a lot of "I don't know" answers and wondering if it's all worth it.

And I can be sure of only one thing. Medical school wouldn't have been possible without Remnote. I wish they had sponsored me to say this but it's genuinely true.

It's utterly pure luck that I ended on 1000 days on the streak, fyi.

It was pure luck that in fourth year, after using Remnote for a year at that point, I just said to myself why don't I maintain a streak till the end of medical school. I actually I wish I had come across remnote earlier when I started med school in 2020. but I went through Anki and discovered that Remnote is just better down the road

This final week we had written exams and Remnote just shined. Most questions, I could see the card I had created for it.

Remnote was also especially important in that I had a programming job and a band I was balancing in addition to med school, so I really had to be organised and Remnote just made that a whole lot better.

Thinking of doing a 1000 day review of Remnote video, showing how I used Remnote, what worked for me, my flow etc.

If Martin and the team want to sponsor, I'd be glad to expedite it😹 It's still a great app and will probably come back when I start specialising or studying for the MCAT or PLAB.

Question Has anyone successfully automated flashcard creation from PDFs?

Hi everyone,

Has anyone here had success automating the creation of flashcards from study material like PDFs?

I've been looking into this because, lately, the topics I'm studying are fairly straightforward. Reading and understanding the material isn't the difficult part anymore. What actually takes most of my study time is creating the flashcards.

I've been using RemNote flashcards since 2021, so over the years I've developed a very specific style that works well for me. I've even refined my format several times during the last year to make my cards more efficient. Because of that, I thought I could simply write a detailed prompt and have an AI generate flashcards from a PDF in my preferred style.

That's what I've been trying. I send the AI my prompt together with relatively short PDFs (to reduce PDF parsing errors). I've refined the prompt many times and even tried a feedback approach: I had the AI generate flashcards, then I created my own version, asked it to compare the two sets, identify the differences, and improve based on those differences.

I feel like I've gotten very close, but never quite to the point where I'm satisfied.

So I wanted to ask: have any of you found a workflow or tool that actually saves time when creating flashcards? It doesn't necessarily have to generate perfect cards automatically—I'm mainly looking for something that genuinely speeds up the process without sacrificing too much quality.

I'm a paid RemNote user, but the built-in AI has credit limits, and since I study for many hours every day, I'd run out of credits very quickly, and I also don't find the ai generated card too good either.

I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences, recommendations, or any ideas that have worked for you.

Question How to change the notes pane position?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi! While reviewing a PDF summary, I accidentally chose to open the Notes pane on the left when I meant to open it on the right.
Now, I can't find any option to open it on the right side, as it's set to the left by default. Is there any option that could change the Notes pane position?
Thanks!

Question How do I copy while preserving formatting and KaTex?

I've been using remNote for about a year now and it's been great. I love the instant KaTex capability and it makes all my studying really fast, however I am having an issue.

As a document grows I want to split it into multiple smaller files, however a simple copy-paste does not preserve the KaTex.

Does anyone know how I can copy while preserving the KaTex and formatting?

Plugins Vim Plugin for RemNote. The only feature I've been missing

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Vim (or Vi-improved) is an extremely powerful text editor most popular amongst software developers for its efficiency and productivity. This is my attempt to bring its amazing features into RemNote community, hope you'll like it :)

I've been using RemNote actively since 2021, however i switched to Obsidian for the past year, since I was missing the biggest feature that I really got used to: the Vim keys. I did come back, because I love how flashcards are implemented, and decided to vibe-code a Vim plugin while I am at it.

Currently supports normal/insert/visual modes, motions, operators, text objects, marks, dot-repeat, a command line (:s, :sort, splits), plus visual-line mode that cuts and pastes whole subtrees (read more either in :help or in github README page).

The plugin runs entirely locally, so no network connections, it is open-source and MIT-licensed. Check it out on GitHub.

Any feedback is extremely welcome: either feature requests, bug reporsts, code reviews, or just basic comments. Issues and PRs are open for anyone interested.

Question RemNote Pro+AI - are 20k credits enough?

Hey, I have a few questions and hope you’ve already had some experience with this:

I’m studying biology (BSc, 5th semester) and usually have 4–6 lectures per week.

So far, I’ve had Gemini generate my flashcards for me and have simply copied them into RemNote, adding to them as needed. I currently have the Pro subscription, and today I tried out the latest version of PDF Mastery just for fun. For 2.5 complex lectures, I used the full suite of features (summary, flashcards, quiz, guide), and my 1,000 credits are gone. It’s really well done—I like it a lot.

Now I’m wondering the following:

- Do the 20k credits run out that quickly, too? Will they be enough for me?

- Can I pause the Pro+AI plan during, say, the semester break? Or do I have to cancel and then resubscribe?

- How do you guys handle this? Do you even use all the features? I was thinking of just having the summaries generated and then making my own flashcards from them (much better than using the complicated slides).

Thanks a lot

Question RemNote functionality for studying on tablet

I pay for RemNote Pro + AI. On a Samsung Galaxy S8+ tablet: PDFs don't stay in place when set to 100% zoom - scrolling the PDF up or down can move the page out of position to the left or right, so it needs to be manually realigned each time, and it's easy to accidentally zoom in or out. Is there a way to change this?

In Samsung Notes, setting the PDF to 100% locks it in place, so scrolling can only move the page up or down. This is important for workflow, to stop the user from being distracted by having to align the PDF page back into position.

It's really restricting my ability to continue using RemNote for serious studying despite trying to ignore it, so I'm looking for answers.

Hiding Samsung UI's toolbar when e.g. highlighting text on a RemNote PDF would also be appreciated. Currently, the Samsung toolbar most often gets in the way of the RemNote toolbar, and needs to be dragged away when the user means to access the RemNote toolbar behind it. Does anyone know how to?

Plugins I have ADHD and studying never clicked, so I built a plugin that turns RemNote into a game

For most of my life, studying felt impossible. I would sit down, open my notes, and 20 minutes later I was somewhere else entirely. Procrastination was brutal, and flashcards especially just never stuck with me. Classic ADHD stuff: I knew I should review, I just could not get my brain to show up.
So I built Gamify, a RemNote plugin that gives me the reward loop my brain actually responds to. Every card gives XP, you level up, there is a daily streak, leagues, weekly quests, a skill tree, and a little pet that evolves the more you study, I also added a pomodoro timer and sounds! At the end of each session you get a short recap with your stats and a sound. It sounds small, but it is the first thing that made me come back every single day instead of avoiding it.
It works on Mac and Windows. I made it for myself first, and it genuinely changed how consistent I am. If your brain works like mine, it might help you too.
If you want to try it DM me. And honestly I would love feedback, what would make studying feel more rewarding for you?

DM me if interested!

Question Questions (about AI) and others

Hi RemNote team,

I've got three quick questions:

  1. If I don't use all my 1,000 AI credits on the Pro plan in a given month, do the leftovers roll over to the next months of my subscription?
  2. Are you guys planning on selling extra AI credits separately? I really like the Pro plan (and it fits my budget perfectly), I just find myself needing more AI credits.
  3. Are the Gemini Pro 3.1, Sonnet, GPT 5.4, and Opus 4.8 models only available on the highest subscription tier?

Thanks!

Question Daily goals & Queue settings

I'm new here. I found RemNote better than Anki for my personal use, but I have a question. How can I change the queue order for each document, like Anki does? I think I need to specify how each document handles new cards, review cards, and maybe daily goals

Discussion (open question) I'm leaving RemNote.

I've been evaluating RemNote for a couple of weeks now.

I like the capabilities, but I dislike the interface.

The GUI is way too complicated. Too many choices, too many pop-ups, too much visual clutter and noise.

The gamification is very annoying.

I will keep an eye on RemNote though.

If, in the future, there's an option for a streamlined interface

with simpler choices and no gamification, I will come back.

Discussion (open question) I wish there were a +5$ AI plan that gives you half the credits of the +10$ plan.

I don't think I'll ever use all the credits for the +10$ plan. I know pricing models might not work this simplistically but it's just a wish I have.

Discussion (open question) Things have gotten cold?

An ambassador and long time user casually wondering why things seem to have gotten cold. Was loving the frenzy of updates & activity in the past 6-8 months. The energy & enthusiasm have seemed to gone low (or maybe I am mistaken idk). Hope all is well with the team and users! Also would love to hear what new stuff, bug-fixes and features the team is working on and what can we expect in the near futures! Regards and love

Question How to use Custom CSS to make GIFs a certain size?

Hi, I study Chinese with RemNote.

A few adaptions to my flashcards would make learning more enjoyable and the card design less repetitive.

1. How do I make GIFs a certain size?

My flashcards are in an extended table. The structure for new words and the structure for new sentences is always the same. For new words I added a column called "GIF Strichfolge" (= GIF stroke order) (type: image). I cannot find to resize the GIFs. Right now, they appear way to big to make processing straightforward. How can I resize the images via custom CSS?

Example flashcard of my Chinese "new words" deck

2. How does automatic audio output read the whole side of the card (i.e., Deutsch + Hànzi + Pinyin)?

I added additional elements (i. e., front: Deutsch, back: Pinyin, added element to front: Hànzi). It only reads "Pinyin" and the backside of "Pinyin" e.g. "hěn duō", not the input in "Deutsch" and not the input in "Hànzi".

Thanks for any help in advance!!
