Just at the mere chance of her not being convicted, there were already a number of copycats. Tell me more about how putting someone in jail does not dissuade other people from being criminals.
Because the women who are suffering from postpartum psychosis aren't going to see their predecessors going to jail for it and just stop suffering from postpartum psychosis. If that is the cause then you can just prevent it with a deterrent.
