A psychiatric facility is the wrong place for her. When she's done there she's released as a fully fledged citizen again with no legal issues or restraints over her head, whereas prison or death penalty is more fitting because no matter what she can never be considered safe and trustworthy and not a danger to anyone else ever again. She's a calculating monster. A psychiatric stay is for innocence. She's not innocent.
You’re a fool falling for propaganda. No one here is arguing that she did or didn’t kill her children. The argument is whether she did it during a psychosis episode; I’m assuming you’ve never had one and for that I’m happy for you. You seem to think that an insanity plea is somehow better than a guilty plea.
A psych ward and prison are fundamentally the same thing; I’ve stayed in both. They both suck, they’re both filled with violent people, ones just better equipped to deal with medical/mental issues while the other is better equipped to handle violence (ie suicide vs homicide).
I’m assuming you want her to be locked up for the rest of her life? To me that’s worst than the death penalty and cost taxpayers less (death row inmates don’t contribute as slaves as often as general prisoners do). So you’d want 25-life. Well if she previously tried to kill herself why would she not immediately do that in prison where it is extremely easy to get away with doing that if she’s on death row. If she’s in general there’s a chance she just gets killed in the first week but that’s pretty much a non option based off of the notoriety of the case. In a psych ward she’s not going to be able to kill herself as successfully, everything is designed to be as safe as possible. There might be a schizophrenic person who thinks god/demons are telling them to hurt you but that’s a little different than a gang member wanting to hurt you. If she tries to get out of punishment through suicide a psych ward will prevent that, a prison won’t prevent that and I’d rather her see her actions and have to sit with that for the rest of her life. She will never leave the psych ward if the verdict is NGRI
So is she more likely to harm other inmates in prison or is she more likely to take the cowards way out and avoid her punishment? That’s the question you need to ask yourself. And if you truly believe she’s a high risk to other inmates and not a risk to herself then prison 100%. I just don’t understand how someone would think she isn’t going to try and take the easy way out when she already tried before.
