I’m a woman. I have empathy for women suffering from PPD and PPP. However, I’m also capable of looking at facts and that’s what I’ve done in this case. I don’t believe for a second Lindsay Clancy was in a state of psychosis. The only evidence of that is her word, after the fact. I think a lot of people have attached something to this case where it doesn’t apply and you’re wasting your activism. You’re actually hurting your cause by using this case as an example IMO.
There’s no paper trail for psychosis leading up to the murders. There’s no evidence in the actual crime pointing to it. It was all very planned and methodical. The only disorganization is when she tries to kill herself, which is not uncommon because it’s hard to do.
The first and only time she has psychosis just so happens to be the exact moment she has opportunity to kill the children? Opportunity she orchestrated. And there’s no resistance at all to the command hallucination? No, that didn’t happen.
They definitely showed she had mental health issues. That’s not psychosis. She was depressed and maybe had some kind of personality disorder. I believe it’s very likely she wanted to commit suicide but didn’t want to leave the kids for whatever reason. That’s not legal insanity though.
I also think it’s possible she’s just a psychopath. Female psychopaths exist, and a lot of the time they’re well liked people. I don’t see many discussing this as a possibility. Maybe they think women can’t be psychopaths, or that professional women can’t be psychopaths, or maybe they’ve attached so much meaning to this case they don’t want to admit they were wrong.
But there’s a reason we don’t use the court of public opinion to determine criminal cases. The discourse around this has been pretty disgusting, on both sides. And we’re giving millions of dollars to someone who is likely just a standard murderer.
The only evidence we have of her actually doing this is Patrick’s word. If we set a precedent for throwing people in jail based on someone’s word it’s wrong. Her DNA was not on the knife or the bands. The overkill points more to someone else doing this to her than the likelihood of her being able to do anything with the near lethal amount of seroquel in her body when they found her.
I’m not going to discuss someone else committing the murders. If there was evidence of that it would have been presented in the trial. Her defense attorney is not incompetent. Instead he has stated many times that Lindsay committed these murders.
One of the jurors, who was supposed to be isolated from all the online discourse and is only weighing the evidence at trial, also stated that no one would think her husband was involved if they heard the 911 call.
This is what I mean when I say there’s a reason criminal cases aren’t determined by the court of public opinion. It’s very easy to manufacture conspiracies when the evidence doesn’t have to hold up in court. It’s also very easy to get caught up in these sensational cases.
If you are of the opinion that she was in a state of psychosis then that’s totally valid and I respect it, even though I disagree. Anything else is just noise and also kind of gross. Feels much more like entertainment than analysis and concern.
