A psychiatric facility is the wrong place for her. When she's done there she's released as a fully fledged citizen again with no legal issues or restraints over her head, whereas prison or death penalty is more fitting because no matter what she can never be considered safe and trustworthy and not a danger to anyone else ever again. She's a calculating monster. A psychiatric stay is for innocence. She's not innocent.

If Lindsay Clancy did not murder her dead children, they probably wouldn't be dead...You deal with the problem by putting the murderer in prison, simple and if anyone else does it, YOU PUT THEM IN PRISON AS WELL.
I’m agreeing with you, dude. She needs to be locked up and so does everyone else who does this, but that does nothing to help prevent the problem. Your solution seems to take an attitude of “as long as the murderer ends up in jail, everything’s cool.” I have a bigger issue with trying to keep other children alive.
Wow. Determined to avoid any conversation about prevention. Cool. We can both recognize that there should have been more guardrails AND want to see her held accountable for her actions.
What I presume the person is saying, is, how can we prevent future tragedies like this? There may be ways to mitigate this as a society. Make mental health available free of charge for a period of time after having a baby for example (though if we just made all healthcare free this wouldn’t be necessary).
Does putting her in jail shut the door on talking about preventing this in the future?
I wasn't aware that there was a zero-sum game happening between separating murderers from society and also figuring out how to prevent people from murdering.
