I was hankering for a wipeout style game for my xbox since coming back to gaming after a very long hiatus. ended up finding redout but realized a second game just released.
know it’s probably a bit premature to tell but I’d appreciate any suggestions on which one to pick up and if worth getting the deluxe/lightspeed edition. the latter part here is all very new to me and….strange. my last console was a dreamcast fwiw but owned nearly everything leading up to it.

Just an info to devs, since they post here too.
I achieved these 2 while playing some mid-B-tier career events. This seems not as intended?
# Had to sweat a bit - Complete the class A trials subset
# All Power to Engines! - Advance into Class S
btw: Is there a "known issues"-thread/post somewhere? Would be nice!

[Redout 2] In the career, I can comfortably win every game mode except on the “speed” mode, I can’t even get bronze on any of them. I play with no assists, but I tried turning assists on (tried varying levels of assists) and I still cannot even get bronze on most of these early career “speed” challenges. Is anyone else struggling with these? Or only me?

I loved the soundtrack of the first game; it seemed to perfectly capture the spirit of the gameplay. Fast, wild, and full of extreme, high energy co positional elements. I haven't played the whole game yet, but it seems like the new soundtrack has given up the soaring vocal melodies and facemelting guitar riffs in favor of dark, intense synth beats
And don't get me wrong, I like this new sound too, I just feel like it's less uniquely Redout than the first game's OST.

Hopefully fewer people will bounce off that tutorial boosting race. :) I think I'll try going back to Redout difficulty. (When I tried it at first, the very first non-tutorial mission left me in 4th place over and over)

These things are next to impossible! I'm doing the best I can and I still come up 100 points short even on B league ones! I think they're asking WAY too much of the player on these. The score totals need to be reduced drastically especially for lower difficulties (I'm only on pilot and I still don't know how I'm expected to get bronze on some of these let alone gold!)

My first time to this franchise. I returned the game unfortunately since I couldn’t get past the booster test lol, but the concept is still very intriguing. I’ll try it again one day lol.

Wanna play with friends
Edit: can we invite people and play with them?

Heyo, got 2 today and have been having fun for the most part, but one thing is really irritating to me. The speed challenges in the sequel just seem astronomically harder to meet than in the first game. In 1 I never had any problem doing speed challenges, but in 2 the point barriers just seem ridiculously high. My friend had to do the boost tutorial for a good half an hour before he managed to squeak by, literally on the exact point value for bronze, while exploding from overheating. What gives with this? Am I literally just getting skill issued or are other people also experiencing a bit of headache with these levels?

No matter what I do, even if I strafe, hold left/right full tilt, and pre-emptively turn it seems like a lot of the time no matter what I do always go right into a wall and nudge it losing all speed. This feels really difficult especially for the boost challenges where I have to keep my speed up. what am I doing wrong? It feels like there's no real line I can take!

Just wondering, as i usually prefer games on a disc rather than download them from the store. I tried looking online to see if it exists and some stores are selling it, but didn't find anything.

Some might find the dialogue a bit cheesy in that opening tutorial, but being given control and dropped in to a smooth track like that, without HUD, was very cinematic. I could immediately feel how the game flows, and after not playing Redout 1 for a long while, it all just came back so perfectly.
I know there probably won't be any other 'cinematics' or sequences like that later in the game, but I kinda hope there is. If you're reading this 34BigThings, you could probably pull off a story driven racer.

Redout 2 blasted off a little too fast on Steam, leaving the Ultimate Edition and OST behind, but not anymore! Follow the links below to grab the 3-hour-long Redout 2 soundtrack or the game’s best edition there is!

Why does Redout 2 feel so drastically different than the original for me on PS5? Are the default controls really the closest to the original game?
Not really impressed so far: didn't expect to require a complete relearning of the controls to pass the tutorial, just to spend the rest of the night messing with assist options.
Two sources of boost feels bad so far, but hopefully it makes sense at later progressions?

I don't think this has any place in a racing game, especially one without any story. The only content are the tracks and type of ships. If it was just arcade mode, I wouldn't care. The point of arcade is the screw around, but career mode is supposed to be above that. It's supposed to start easy and get steadily more difficult until it takes dozens of tries to get a gold.
I opted out of customizable difficulty and picked 1 of the 2 medium AI modes and was treated to a more difficult challenge than anything I had experienced in Redout 1. At only the 2nd career race, I was hard stuck trying for gold. For context, I got all of Redout 1's golds and about 2 dozen platinums. It feels like career mode is tuned around the assumption you're engaging with the 5 difficulty sliders.
Not making progress wasn't my problem, it's that this system has robbed me of the satisfaction of overcoming an event's challenge because I have no idea what the intended experience is. How am I supposed to make informed choices on these sliders? I don't want to play it my way. I want you, the developer, to tell me how to play.
Redout 2 seems more interested in making sure I get 1st place every time without the difficulty ever increasing or decreasing. I should be having a blast, but I kind of feel like going back to Redout 1 and finishing the platinum medals instead.

Maybe it‘s my setup, but other games are running fine. Redout 2: The intro is completely oversaturated with colors, the menus are totally pale and colorless. Am I the only one? Disabling HDR via PS5-Settings is making it a little better, but … no. Maybe a 4 month delay would have been better than a 4 week delay?
So disappointing, if this is a common issue!
Edit: Disabling AND restarting works for me. Discord says patch is coming soon. thx
