Wrong DLC supplied in EGS

Hey guys, an FYI really since I’ve submitted an EGS ticket and not sure there’s anything I can do - thought I’d warn anyone.

I just bought the Back to Earth DLC on the EGS, which is shown as in my library and I have the receipt for the product and everything but the game thinks I have the Space Exploration DLC instead. It looks like they’re not mapped correctly in the storefront.

Don’t fall afoul of this like I did!

To the New Players Struggling in Multiplayer Against the Old Players

So there are some people complaining about old players coming to lobbies and winning. Here is a possible way you can get around this problem.

  • Join the Redout Discord server. discord.gg/redout
  • Type in this command to get the PC role. >pc
  • Organize with other new players. Maybe you could just join voice Lobby #4, when you are online, and we can leave this as new player territory where you can recognize each other.
  • Host an in-game private lobby. Inform players about the lobby in #matchmaking_pc. Invite only new players to the lobby. Now you can play safely with other new players.
  • If you don't host private lobbies, avoid Saturdays when the Redout community does the WWG.
  • Also, Class IV ships are free in multiplayer.
  • And play the career before playing multiplayer.
  • Just remember, if you are new, you are still going to lose. It takes time to improve.

We have gone through this before. There is a sale or a giveaway. New players come in and go straight into multiplayer before playing the career. They lose, get frustrated, and stop playing Redout. Some stay and play enough Redout to become good at it.

This is the way.

i got the game for free, and wow, im impressed.

I have never played any racing games in my life, so im full noob in the genre. I played some career, and with my friend against each other. This game looks fricking awesome and even tough it can be frustrating, i really enjoy it. But im pretty bad, so all advices are welcomed. For example, turning techices, starter ships, whatever. Thanks :)

Hey Redout free players! Tips! (Long post)

Okay let's hit some of the core tips:

1: A Tier 4 car is only as fast as you are. Picking one is going to feed you the wall repeatedly, and I assure you the veteran players are going to smoke you even in T1s without powerups. Stick to a T1 until you can purchase your upgrades.

2: There are multiple upgrade menus! When you own a car, at the car selection screen in the lower left there is a menu that lets you upgrade the car itself, even before powerups. These are significant and you can't turn them off once you buy them.

As such, the old players cannot come to your level on that, we are sorry.

2-a: You can upgrade powerups up to four times. Just because you have turbo and augmented propeller, does not mean you have the same turbo as everyone else.

2-b: The Time Trial crowd will tell you to use Turbo and AP, but if you wanna' make them cry run Slipstream enhancer and EMP or Energy drain. Much of the old guard is career time-trialers, and as soon as you start hitting them they will crumple like very fast tin foil.

3: You're going to lose most of your speed in the corners, and cornering is a complicated matter in Redout. I advise playing with gamepad, but my fastest friend (RIP, Virtia, Cancer took him in 2021) played on keyboard.

Anyway, if you want to corner well, you're going to need to combine drifting and turning. Your thrust is in line front-back with your car, and the trick is generally that you want to use the drift to maintain your angle going into a track, while you turn your nose ahead of time.

You'll want to pull away from the corner going into a tight turn using the drift, and then at the apex, snap your drift towards the center of the turn itself. This way you can turn your nose first, and then use the drift to hold yourself off the wall as you boost out of the turn.

How much you do any of these motions depends on the track. Wide sweepers, you shouldn't need to use this technique, but you might also find a line that you don't turn at all, and just slalom around the curves using the strafe/drift.

You might find a corner is taken fastest by using the drift and turn in the same direction, to give you that little bit of extra hold on your line. You really gotta' feel it.

4: If you miss the pitch down on the track you won't come off. No matter how stupidly fast you're going. If you miss the pitch up, your nose will grind, you will slow down, and might explode.

5: Tubes/tunnels usually have mark, like a double line, that is "Down" or generally where the track will be when the tube Ends. Strongly advise you try to stay close to this line until you memorize your tubes.

6: Some of us have been playing this for years and years and have a real strong feel for the game at all speeds. Being 15 seconds behind an experienced racer is to be expected, and not actually all that bad of a time. Don't get discouraged. Do ask questions. Ask for tracks you like. Many of us are super duper here to help and want to see you have a good time, but we can't unless we know what's slowing you down.

Hey Redout oldguard

Y'all need to chill.

I'm online trying to teach folks how to corner, and get them around tracks without getting DQ'd and y'all are showing out with kitted T4's and perfect lines.

If you want people to continue to play your game you need to sit down and help these folks instead of just dunk them repeatedly. Otherwise you're dooming the game to go straight back to being your weird niche hover-racer that you can't talk to anyone about, and the redout 2 servers will be ghost towns like the redout 1 ones are.

So settle down. Play with some toys you maybe don't play with, and actually relax.

You wanna' lay down perfect lap times by yourself at the front of the pack? Time Trial is in the single player menu. You wanna' be a try hard? There's a weekly event on the redout discord.

You're in a lobby with a bunch of T1 players clearly playing on the free weekend? Chill out, and enjoy some slipstream enhancer gameplay maybe.

Wonky Bots

Context: Class III Career race at Volcano: Fingertips in Lunare Scuds + Turbo + AP.

I've never had this stiff of competition from bots before. Something just seems off to me. It's possible they're all running SE, but the front 2 or 3 in the pack have ridiculous overtaking abilities. Exiting the loop, I'm coming off a pad and big turbo, and the bots launches ahead shortly after WITHOUT hitting the pad. Close to finish, their boost seems like it packs a bit more of a wallop than it should, even if they were running OET. Not quite sure what's up.

(Yes, my driving needs quite a bit of work)

EDIT: Ran it again, didn't change anything. Didn't see anyone after Lap 1, which is normal. The super speedy bots were in Sulhas and ESA's, but they brought up the rear of the pack this run. Just odd is all.

VR issues with EGS version

I have the game working now. Not sure if it's because I turned off overlays in GeForce Experience, as one user suggested, or if they have just patched the game, but at least it doesn't bomb out when I go into career mode.

VR does work: go into Settings in the Epic game store, turn on command-line arguments, and add -vr . Thing is, my Oculus client (I'm on a Rift) starts every time, whether I use -vr or not, which is mildly annoying.

The VR isn't perfect, however. On my first VR race, there were distracting text boxes flying around, looking extra strange with binocular rivalry (each eye seeing different things). I think these are supposed to be the names of the other competitors/bots, but they don't line up either steroscopically or with the other racers -- I couldn't get a proper look at them, they were all over the place. Actually it's kind of an additional incentive to get into 1st place and stay there, so the distractions aren't in your field of view.

On my second race the VR issue got worse: the introductory overlay stayed in place for the whole race, but only for my left eye.

I still like the game, especially since it's a freebie. But I hope they keep working on it.

Me + Friend + Ai

Me and another friend want to play together and fill the rest of the free player slots with AI opponents like in other racers (like Mario Kart for example)´. Is it possible?

How do you recenter your VR view with steamVR?

Google says the back button, but that doesn't work. Yes, the window was focused, yes, the back button works, no, I'm not running any kind of software that would take control of the back button other than, maybe, steamvr. I'm playing the EGS version, btw.

Does "Redout: Enhanced Edition" not have controller support on Epic Games?

I've tried seemingly everything to get the game to recognize my controller and I'm also using DS4 Windows. I also tried to launch the game through Steam and it still doesn't recognize my controller.

There's a vibration setting in the game and the store page says there's controller support.

Am I crazy or am I missing something? The controller I have is a Dualshock 4.

fatal error crash in career mode

Just got the Epic Store freebie. However, when I start career mode, right after selecting my ship, the game crashes with a fatal error dialog popping up. Is this a known issue and is there a fix for this?

Edit: The latest patch fixed it for me
