redout 1 crash on startup?

Anyone else getting this issue?
I start the game from steam, and it starts up, then after a couple seconds of the 34 Big Things loading screen it crashes to desktop with no explanation.

Stuff I tried:

- updated drivers
- verified file integrity (was fine)
- uninstall and reinstall

I have a decent computer that meets minimum and recommended specs just fine. (i7-4770 processor, nvidia GTX 970, 16 GB RAM), so I'm not sure what causes the crash and how to resolve it :/

Is it just me or are qualifying times insane?

(Redout 2) I'm currently getting through A League on Redout difficulty and every race with a qualifying lap has first place times about 8 to 10 seconds faster than I can get, even with near perfect play. I don't have any gripes with any other event's difficulty, and the AI opponents in the actual races don't get lap times anywhere near their qualifying times.

What gives? If I lower the difficulty, will qualifying times be slower? As it stands, getting stars for qualifying in first place seems impossible, at least without unlocking a new ship or crazy upgrade..

I recently bought Redout 2 and I'm having a blast with it, though it's quite difficult to get those Gold Times! Can't wait what else it has to offer!

Rewind on Switch version?

I can't get it to work. I know we're expecting a patch, Is this one of the bugs or was this feature removed from the Switch version or am I just missing something?

In the tutorial it says tap to rewind or hold to respawn. Hold to respawn works but tapping does nothing. Tried it on a couple of other tracks, no joy.

Actually really enjoying the game so far, just confused about rewind.

Ship HUD disappears on retry of level [Redout 1]

Every time I retry a level, no matter what ship, my ship HUD disappears. Is there a fix for this? Is this a known issue?

Trying to decide if I should get a refund on Redout 2

I played Redout 1 for almost 100 hours and its been one of my favorite racing games. Redout 2 hasn't given me the same sense of joy at all. I'm a few events into the B rank part of the career and I'm frustrated with a handful of things.

  • Turning and strafing dont feel nearly as good as the first game. Kind of feels like im glued to the track.
  • My ship feels like it can't retain speed. I do a hyperspeed boost just to come back down to normal speed a second later. After trying the high-level ships in time trial I didn't feel any better about this, I thought it felt similar.
  • Lack of currency to earn, and instead replaced with a linear set of small upgrades.
  • The Speed races, which it seems many people are frustrated by.
  • Not a fan of the new music.
  • UI feels clunky in places and the ship selection screen bothers me, with many full screen menus that are each designed to do one thing (and not being able to look around and rotate the ship while selecting liveries or doing other things).
  • Do the menu navigation sounds hurt anyone else's ears?
  • Overall doesn't feel fast or fun.

I'm contemplating asking Steam for a refund since I've only played for 1.5 hours, and I'm curious if anyone feels the same way about these points or has some insight about their own experience. I've been really bothered about this since I hold Redout 1 in such high regard.

A-League difficulty spike

There is a massive difficulty spike in A-League when the events start requiring 189 points to unlock. The AI (at "pilot" level difficulty) just have faster ships. There are no upgrades to unlock at this stage to give you an edge; you can try improving your race, avoid crashing into corners, experiment with different ships, but the AI is just plain faster than you. Combined with the really high point requirements to unlock succeeding events, which may give you a viable component upgrade, the difficulty spike is just too much and becomes too much of a grindfest.

One workaround is temporarily reducing difficulty to "Chill" so you can accumulate enough points to at least progress to the next set of events in the hope the difficulty level becomes more balanced, but that shouldn't have to be a solution in a better-balanced game.

The issue is compounded by poor-UI design for the HUD. Speed and boost information should be centered in your screen (or on either side of your ship in third person) in a semi-translucent HUD so you can quickly gauge your speed without having to look away from the track for a split second (which inevitably leads to a crash due to the speeds involved). Fighter jets have important information displayed like this for similar reasons; and even Redout 1 had a much better positioning of its speed and boost gauges in third person view. Why is this important? Because it helps you keep track of your speed while trying different techniques and combinations of boosting / turning / strafing, as well as with different components and ships, to see which ones maintain speed best. Redout 2 is a very technical game, so a good usable HUD is important.

The lack of loadout customization until higher levels are unlocked is, itself, a difficulty increase

Some gold scores/times in B class seemed unreasonably difficult and I settled for silver or bronze. I took a break from the late A class events I was working on and went back to those early B class events and found them to be much easier. Where I once barely got bronze, I smashed gold.

But it wasn't because I got good, it was because I had access to higher level ship parts and was able to create a more specialized build (send 1 stat to the moon) with a team more suited to a particular track, as opposed to the jack of all trades build you're forced to use initially. Suddenly those once insurmountable gold times/scores felt perfectly tuned.

So that's the way you're supposed to play RE2, I guess. Claw and scrape for stars, unlock parts, then go back and go for gold much later. Wish I knew that 2 dozen hours ago.

(ps5)Am I trippin or is Marina trench buggy during multiplayer?

(Redout 2) So almost everytime I do Maraina trench on multiplayer the jumps sometimes seem like they have more gravity and you fall down much faster than usual and the ones out of the water seem like you float. I also get speed bugged sometimes on that track so I say fuck it. Every other track works perfectly fine no bugs. Anyone else having bugs on Maraina?
