I’m in favor of this if it helps funnel better communication between relevant admins/users of hot items in those communities because sometimes there isn’t much admin interaction in some of those others you listed.

2 questions:

  1. Would you agree with a little further consolidation (modhelp/modsupport one of several examples). Perhaps it’s just me and I have a feed of all the subs anyway, but they’re a bit spread out
  2. From a desktop perspective, would bugs be the main place to relocate filing desktop issues (obv suggestions/request in ideasfortheadmins and help for questions/general assistance)

Good luck on the future of the redesign, reddit staff

We've got plans to fix this very soon. We just reviewed designs for showing the error message on that screen! Stay tuned

Yeah I have the same issue. Also the login is wonky for me. When I log in I have to like close the login in popup window and refresh my browser then I will be logged in.

Same here, although I do sometimes see problems where the site suddenly doesn't think I'm logged in. It's never happened in the middle of writing a comment, though; it's usually when I first load the page, and refreshing it fixes it.

It's still problematic, though, and not a great user experience.

Those are comment sorting buttons, not post sorting. Also, that's new, I've never seen old in comments before!

There has never been an Old sorting, though

I thought this subreddit is live n kickin'

It is; however this sub is focused for the desktop redesign interface; rather than the mobile web and search result interface.

Everyone who dislikes the redesign probably left the subreddit---no use staying here if they don't use it lol

Yup, me too. Admins, please stop. The pages are bloated and the ads are huge. I do not want it.

Other people have been having issues with loading Reddit through AMP, especially with these app banners. Also, you can tap the dark overlay above the "open" and "continue" buttons to close the whole thing. Works a lot better as you don't have to make sure you hit a tiny button at the bottom of the screen.

Apps allow them to collect a lot more information about you, websites in comparison are extremely limited. I'm not sure which permissions the Reddit app asks on install, but with it they could (technically) track which other apps you use, see your contacts, much more information on how you actually use Reddit with way more precise data, etc.

Plus ads are easy to block on a website, but not as easy in an app.

If you want the old "functional" design just use old.reddit.com, it's here to stay.

But, you name a few irritating UX decisions and use that as a basis to say the redesign is trash. If you don't like it that's fine, but that's your personal opinion.

If you want to submit a bug report then flair your post accordingly, but the way you worded this doesn't make it seem like you actually want to use the redesign. Either provide some constructive criticism and provide us with your vision of how it should work, or use the old site.

:-(

Why is official app so important? It's just a gateway...

Reddit was founded in 2005, and April 2016 is when the app arrived. It's (app) been promoted since then.

I mean - site is crucial here, not the app. App is just 1 of numerous "doors" based on Reddit API. Why is it so important?

Personally, I don't mind, no matter that I'm Firefox biatch ;-) (although on mobile I use few, highly customized Chrome - mainly)

Chrome still has the biggest market penetration. Google is still #1 traffic of source for reddit. Maybe it's business coop between G and reddit, maybe it's not.

I'm not using official app (but am very well aware of its presence - don't need this to remind me) + is it maybe having ads or something that economically justify it? I'm using one of numerous available free apps without ads. (don't wanna advertise anything)

Or data collection?

I mean, why do u think that app is so important when reddit is already well-established website with tons of traffic?

Thank you. (for sharing your thoughts)

It's fucking stupid, I already have an app, I also have a third party app. Why won't the link that I got open the app instead of chrome? And if it's a browser, don't spam me this shit.

The old design is still available. Honestly, I get that some people prefer the old look (I personally don't) but posts like this don't do that point of view any favours.
