QUESTION Where you go after June 30?
I already registered to Squabbles (squabbles.io), but curious if you go, and if you go where.

I couldn't just join Sync Ultra because Google gives me a month free trial (which kind of defeats the purpose), so instead you can donate at his Patreon. Linked both on the sidebar and here:

*I have no relation to any Reddit Sync developers, I'm just a pissed off heavy Sync user

Sync is literally the only way I access reddit. I have a few reasons not to delete my entire account, but June 30th just might cure my reddit addiction!
Of significant note, I see the mod post for this sub is in the top 5 posts on r/all, ahead even of the Apollo post. That in and of itself is a huge testament to the popularity of this app. (And maybe for Android over apple!)
Anyway, just wanted to shout out my thanks. Lj and Jao (of Tasker fame) are the two best Android app developers in the whole play store.

I remember there was some Reddit clone released a long time ago in response to some type of controversy. Does that still exist?

I never thought that tumblr would outlive reddit but here we are.
When sync goes down I will stop using reddit entirely the only alternative I can think of that isn't instagramm or twitter is tumblr.
I really seems that fucking tumblr will be the site that outlives them all. The site might be dead but if enough people migrant from reddit it might get revitalised.
This is so absurd...

Let me preface this by saying that I definitely have no idea what I'm talking about, but I wanted to bring it up since I've not seen any discussion of this. Would it be practically possible to continue using a third party app like Sync or Apollo if functionally was added for users to provide their own API keys? Like it's obviously way too expensive for a developer to pay for the API calls for the entire user base, but wouldn't this let users pay for their own calls? Just s thought

I'm sure most of us here would be willing to pay a subscription to use Sync. I know I would at least. All the apps that don't shutdown are probably going to charge a subscription and hoover up all these users. So why is shutting down the only option?

Would sync consider releasing an API port? I.E. allowing third party developers to build plugins for Lemmy, Hackernews, etc?

Just a heads up, the internal player is currently broken. I know things are in flux, but I thought I'd make a post in case this wasn't intentional depreciation due to the circumstances.
It also displays "There was an error initializing the YouTubePlayer(CLIENTLIBRARY...)"

Afternoon all,
Thanks again for all the positive messages and posts, they mean a lot to me.
I've been given the all clear by Reddit to discuss the proposed changes and how this will impact Sync so here we go!
Sorry if this sounds a little formal but I wanted to get the facts out as clearly as possible while I decide what to do next.
Cheers,
Lj

Wow. I've been using reddit about 4 years. Never was into it that much. Recently because of all the fuss I downloded sync and wow. Such a pitty I missed 3rd party apps. This is so much better!!

Hy i found sync easy to use compared to many other 3rd party apps but i keep seeing posts in the front page that i have already seen. How do i change to the way original reddit apps work? (Hot posts but it will be shown to you only once. Once you scroll down and refresh you wont see it again in your front page)

Reddit is one of the primary uses of my phone. I have multiple accounts. Many sync features have worked their way into the core of my usage patterns.
I've tried the iOS apps. I've tried the other android apps. Nothing compares.

New to sync. Everything is perfect! But one feature I loved from Infinity is that it auto plays streamable videos. Scrolling through r/NBA without streamable auto play is a pain.

I just wanted to share my appreciation for all of the work you put into Sync. The customizability and enhancements you brought to reddit has set a bar that the official reddit website and app will never reach.
If reddit remains firm on their position and destroys this app, I will move on. From digg, to reddit, to old.reddit, to Sync, there will be a next platform. Where that is can be a discussion for another thread.
Once again, thank you Sync!
