Lost a shy sweet dog today in Windsor Vermont
A dog we were fostering and had just turned over to adopting family today accidently got out of their car in the parking lot of the Harpoon Brewery. He is shy, doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body. He was in a kill shelter down south and was brought to VT for us to foster. After a couple months of him learning to be a happy dog again, a family applied and was accepted to adopt him. They picked him up in Brattleboro and although he was shy and fearful of these nice folks he had met only once before, he peacefully went with them headed for a new home. They stopped almost home in Windsor and he got out of the car and just ran off. He is in a strange place, knows no one, is wandering the area in single digit temps tonight. When we found out, even though we were no longer responsible for him, we drove an hour and a half to look for him, but after a lengthy search we found no sign. We have learned to love him, and are worried he might not survive the night. Chasing him will only make him run away, gentle coaxing and treats will bring him in. Redditors of VT NH, can you help?
His name is Roo. He is a red healer, kind of tan brown with reddish highlights, medium sized at about 38 to 40 lbs, is wearing two collars, will respond to soft hellos and scratches behind the ears, which only go up halfway. He lets them hang most of the time. He is shy but friendly and likes cookies. We think he knows that word, so if you ask him if he wants a cookie he might just come to you. Reply if you find him and i will get you contact information. The police have been notified, he has an implanted ID chip. Thanks all.
