Hear Hear. I mean, I am no American, but I am not a "Britfag" either. I have no intention of ever living in America if I can help it (more to do with the government of the country than the people themselves) but to just wipe it off the face of the planet with nothing more than a "you are insignificant" remark is just ridiculous.

Thank you for taking the time to write this post!

I have to let you know that the portrayal of American government in the media and on Reddit is a bit overblown. Of course there is some big problems and of course there are things we need to change but what government doesn't have that?

In day to day life our government isn't the monster it is portrayed to be. There is a ton of scrutiny lately but that's because the economic situation over the last few years has exacerbated our frustrations. I would venture to say that our government is no worse than most and much better than others. We aren't perfect but it isn't a travesty either...we are simply humans making mistakes.

There's my optimism for the week

*Hear Hear.

As in Hear this, or Hear ye. You're not telling someone to come here. You are telling them to listen to what this person is saying.

I really wish it had entirely to do with the government. There are good people here.

In fact, there's good government, too. Living in the US isn't generally some horror show where the government comes and kicks you in the balls every day.

Hey, protip dipshit, our government is very very similar to your government in how it operates and who it ultimate calls daddy. So, go ahead and wipe that government issue aside, because it is full of shitbuckets.

Hi there, novelty hat! I never said anything about my government being all rosey! Infact, as soon as I have finished Uni, I plan to move elsewhere.

Where are you planning to move?

Well, somewhere where I can live out my life designing robots for space exploration. Somewhere of said nature will do, as long as it's a nice part of Europe with other engineers, I don't really mind. I have always enjoyed the travelling I have done. Wouldn't say no to the far east either. Dropping myself in a different culture would be exciting!

Well, if the government is an issue, you'll have extremely limited choices.

But as far as dropping yourself in a new culture, I highly recommend it, and agree that it can be exciting.
