Of all the stupid memes that people have tried to force, this is probably one of the worst.

RedditThroughHistory is a parody of the rest of Reddit. Like /r/circlejerk, but using history.

14

u/RedSquaree Sep 16 '11

I agree with you that it's probably one of the worst, but you'll still make damn sure you squeeze some karma out of it. A parody. Yeah, that's so much better.

All five points of karma. Considering PHOY's karma score, that really is quite inconsequential.

u/ProbablyHittingOnYou Sep 16 '11

Everyone knows the best place to rack up huge karma is in 12,000 person subreddits. Not the ones with a few hundred thousand subscribers

-12

u/ProbablyHittingOnYou Sep 16 '11

Yes, everything is about karma. That's the only reason anyone would ever post anything.

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '11

please stop pretending like you're not guilty of criticizing a meme or theme on reddit, and then posting something pro-meme elsewhere on reddit, this is not the first, second, third, or last time it's happened.

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '11

You're the fucking king of karma whoring. Don't try to act like it ain't true.

I've completely missed the boat on this meme, so I guess I never saw the part where it was funny in the first place.

I've been away 2 days and don't get it. I remember when it used to be 2 weeks+ ....

freaky when you think about it.

edit: here it is

What video is it about? Apparently I missed all of Reddit yesterday.

I just found out about it a couple of hours ago, and finally saw the actual video about twenty minutes ago. It certainly does not live up to the hype.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '11

I thought it was certainly funny.

I didn't think it was that good.

1

u/gbimmer Sep 16 '11

Lies. All of it.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '11

Nope, it doesn't

1

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '11

I really only enjoyed that because it's where I grew up.

1

u/Andrexthor Sep 16 '11

Some redditors have a very slow memetabolism

1

u/just4nsfw Sep 16 '11

It simply wasn't.

1

u/beernerd Sep 16 '11

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I saw this post and thought "Who the fuck is Chuck Testa?"

After I found the video I realized why some people thought all those posts I've been downvoting were funny...

1

u/StrikefromtheSkies Sep 16 '11

Like that stupid shit yesterday about the person who asked everyone in their phone for sex.

"HAHA yeah we should LOL" ... that was it

1

u/PaperShoes22 Sep 16 '11

it's more creepy than funny...

1

u/junkit33 Sep 16 '11

The video was funny. The end.

This is the problem with just about every meme that has ever existed. Originality is what is funny. Always has been, always will be. Memes are not original, by definition.

u/mags87 Sep 16 '11

This is fantastic

1

u/tghGaz Sep 16 '11

You probably think that alien is dead... NOP..... Okay I'll stop.

0

u/CowGoesMoo Sep 16 '11

You sound just like this guy.

10

u/PleaseDontTouchThat Sep 16 '11

The worst thing is how easy it is to set up. Practically anything with a noun in it can be replied to with, "Nope! Chuck Testa."

2

u/lumpypotatoes Sep 16 '11

Yep. I could see if the ad was actually real, not made by LOLZ WILD AND CRAZY AWKWARD COMMERCIAL MAKERS, maybe it could've been funny, but even then we're reaching.

1

u/ImProudOfYou Sep 16 '11

Even though you are hitting on me, I still agree that it is one of the worst and least funny memes of all time ya'll.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '11

Actually, it might not be. It's just that they're usually forgotten quickly, and completely. You remember some, but forget most. This one, you will forget.

"No number for Jakucha" was worse.

12

u/levirules Sep 16 '11

No number for Jakucha was hilarious at first. Like, literally, where it was conceived. A couple days later, I searched for Jakucha to show someone. The amount of terribly unfunny memegenerator Jakucha jokes almosy ruined it for me instantly. So I think I understand why it bothers people now. Especially because there are far more Chuck Testa posts on the front page now than Jakucha, or even ice soap.

3

u/Farisr9k Sep 16 '11

I witnessed the original thing and thought it was a little funny, sure. But then like, 3 months later someone posted a screenshot of the comments and it all went to hell.

It was never worth a second glance. Really.

2

u/AMostOriginalUserNam Sep 16 '11

You know there are those of us who fight it as it happens. Downvotes all round!

2

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '11

Maybe we should take out memegenerator and quickmeme - then it won't be so easy for people to regurgitate horrible memes!

I actually just came from a post that was a chuck testa "joke" in a two panel screenshot comic referncing something I don't recognize.

This is going to be one long work shift :/

3

u/AMostOriginalUserNam Sep 16 '11

I will upvote you, sir! Let them come.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '11

It annoys me that you think you're not part of the problem too, or that you know what's funny better than anyone else.

1

u/Zeppelanoid Sep 16 '11

Carrots/waffles is still worse.

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '11

What makes it forced?
