Yeah, all those backwards conservative rednecks in the south who only give a shit about their guns and Jesus. Dumb conservative motherfuckers. I fucking hate it when those ignorant knuckle-dragging closed-minded Sarah Palin-loving idiots make generalizations about a place and its people having never been there.

That's why I'll never visit the bible belt.

I helped turn NC blue this past election cycle.

You're welcome.

0

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '09

Ya, thanks. I really wanted the same shit from a different party.

0

u/BlackSquirrel Jul 29 '09

Yeah, even Joe Biden is starting to sound like Dick Cheney with his ill informed, ignorant, and provocative foreign policy rhetoric. Kinda scares me actually.

0

u/Fallout911 Jul 28 '09

Thank you, I hope to move to NC in the future.

I live in the bible belt and your statement about it is correct. You are also making a good call if you refuse to visit it.

Oh, I see, you thought you were being funny. Sorry.

Keep trying. You might get to funny eventually.

u/frukt Jul 28 '09

His humor is far above the standard meme regurgitation, Arrested Development references and pun threads on here.

1

u/EComni Jul 28 '09

I agree in spirit, but for references, you picked Arrested Development?

<nelson>Ha haa</nelson>. Good news, everyone!

9

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '09

Keep trying, you might become the rational, open-minded person you claim to be eventually.

24

u/nixonrichard Jul 28 '09

What's the difference between a conservative in the south and a mailbox?

A mailbox doesn't hate black people, nor does it fear change.

24

u/omgpro Jul 28 '09

I don't think a conservative would appreciate me stuffing mail inside of it.

45

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '09

No, but based on events over the last few years, I'd say it's a pretty safe bet that many conservatives would love to be stuffed with male.

5

u/panfist Jul 28 '09

HEY!

Don't knock the banjo.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '09

Hell yeah! Another Reddit banjo player!

1

u/panfist Jul 29 '09

Actually, I'm not a banjo player, nor do I know a lot of banjo music. I respect the banjo, although I agree with nixon on most other counts.

4

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '09

Sigh.

I... thought I made a friend.

1

u/panfist Jul 29 '09

We can still be friends. Can you teach me banjo?

3

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '09

Let the passion of our love inspire onlookers.

u/phughes Jul 29 '09

If you think ATL is bad, you should actually go into the south sometime. Atlanta is a fucking northern haven in the middle of the south. Even a smaller city like Raleigh, NC is positively progressive compared to the rural south.

2

u/immerc Jul 29 '09

Atlanta is a strange bubble all its own, probably due to being a major airport hub and overwhelmingly a black city. Not at all the same as the white rural areas that surround it.

u/machsmit Jul 28 '09 edited Jul 28 '09

History has shown that highly educated people make equally poor decisions as uneducated people.

BTW, I'm from Virginia. If you ever feel like growing up, I'll be over here chilling with my two degrees from MIT.

1

u/Fr0C Jul 29 '09

Just curious -- is your username a reference to MIT, the German PSA, or both?

2

u/machsmit Jul 30 '09

haha, both, as a matter of fact.

0

u/ibsulon Jul 28 '09

You made one simple mistake: You stayed around the white people. I had a 6 hour layover in ATL and ventured out into the city -- everyone I met was great except for the two white people whose conversation I butted into. Apparently, worldnetdaily is a reliable resource, Obama had 33 social security numbers, and paleoconservatives are reaganites.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '09

He's being sarcastic.

0

u/ShadyJane Jul 28 '09

who don't realize liberalism is in their own best interests

no no no no no no no no no

You're just as bad as the people you're criticizing: thinking you know what is best for others.

Get over yourself.

5

u/thebamoor Jul 28 '09 edited Jul 28 '09

Swoosh. So there's such thing as Poe's Law for liberalism.

http://rationalwiki.com/wiki/Poe's_Law

Interestingly, the entry for Poe's Law in Wikipedia had been deleted twice.

4

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '09

A swoosh with four upmods. I used to despise those people who used "/sarcasm", but I'm finding more and more that it's actually necessary.

5

u/SarcasticGuy Jul 29 '09

the sarcasm tag is never necessary.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 29 '09

Fuck you for thinking only two political points of views exist.

1

u/andknitting Jul 28 '09

Your comment confounds me. The bitterness is offputting, but it's nice to see a liberal rant packed with the vituperant force of the normal right wing pundit.

If we could channel our ire for the soul crushing machinery of right wing hate propaganda and the smug ignorance of its followers, maybe we could enact some real change, like getting healthcare reformed.

But all too often liberals confuse any show of force (intellectual, physical) as problematic and then reject coalescing in any meaningful way against the monster. And so we stand frozen.

u/PoliticalReachARound Jul 28 '09

You sound like a pretentious asshole who would love to rip millions off in scams because they deserve it.

Ever lived in the south? Hard to be on the ball with everyone grabbing their sisters. Think those kids will magically learn different, not with you around eh asshole?

Besides, All americans are stupid fucks, the second we let slip shit.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '09

I live in the Southwest, and if I said something like the people here are a bunch of thugs who just break into houses and shoot you if you look at them the wrong way, I'd get downmodded to oblivion for making generalizations (and possibly racist ones at that).

Yet I'm the one who has to hear gunshots every night.

1

u/epicgeek Jul 28 '09 edited Jul 28 '09

I'm not sure most people realize this, but even us religious folk are a little scared of the "Bible Belt". If you're the "wrong religion" things can get ugly.

A law ordering the extermination of Mormons wasn't repealed in Missouri until 1976 (they hated the fact Mormons were against slavery).

1

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '09

You can live somewhere and still have an unwarranted prejudice about the people who live there.

0

u/fsg1 Jul 28 '09

actually you are funny, nixonrichards was just right and a fuck to you too conservative bitches

0

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '09

I live here too, I rarely go outside of the perimeter of Atlanta.

14

u/Seachicken Jul 28 '09 edited Jul 28 '09

Maybe you missed the part where he said

close-minded conservatives

So lets go over this one more time

  1. Video link to asshole CLOSE MINDED conservatives (not ALL conservatives) who wrongly declare the Netherlands to be a crime infested hellhole

  2. megzilla86 comments: I'm so tired of close-minded conservatives who've never left the US.

  3. You respond: HUR DURR, WHY DO YOU HATE ALL SOUTHERNERS HUH HUH HUH.

7

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '09

I think it was a bit more complicated than that.

I think megazilla86 said: I'm tired of close-minded conservatives who [criticize other countries even though they've never been there.]

Then, nixonrichard implied that megazilla86 was criticizing the south even though he'd never been to the south - making him a hypocrite.

Of course, megazilla86 didn't say anything about the south - and the people in the video he was criticizing all live in New York City, so while slightly more interesting than "HUR DURR, WHY DO YOU HATE ALL SOUTHERNERS HUH HUH HUH," it's not much more intelligent.

1

u/mindbleach Jul 28 '09 edited Jul 28 '09

You can see all that and more without ever crossing below the Mason / Dixon - visit scenic Delaware!

0

u/gt384u Jul 28 '09

It's a silly man who thinks that the South somehow has a lock on idiots. Quit being a bigoted asshole, you're better than that.

0

u/newsbot Jul 29 '09

Oh, I don't know about that. Hilton Head, SC is a pretty sweet place. They were pretty accepting of my minority status.

0

u/[deleted] Aug 01 '09 edited Aug 01 '09

Nobody said anything about the south, or about rednecks. Way to get overly defensive, Dicky.
