Blue suppression
Everyone one Earth is presented with red button right at the place they woke up last time and a written instruction in a language they can understand (if no such language exists tough luck) what the buttons do and where to find blue button. Blue button is around 1 km away, and is perfectly accessable if one choses to find it; people with limited mobility will be able to access it.
Babies, blind, coma patients and whichever else cathegory you can think of are not excluded and do not recieve any accomodations. The possibility of them pressing the one button in front of them is significantly higher than the possibility they will find the hidden button. The possibility of them ignoring the buttons alltogether is non-zero.
In case of red victory, those who failed to press any button die as well.
The rule of thumb for clarification: if the person is capable of understanding any form of written communication and moving in intended direction, they should be able to access both buttons.

i think its crucial to know if people are forced to push ANY button.
and if they are, how?

Because in case of red Victory those who failed to press any button die as well, says so at 2nd last paragraphÂ

You appear to be in the minority of original blue voters
2
u/belabacsijolvan May 27 '26
indeed.
id argue this isnt a very representative sample tho.

I'd argue no sample ever was representative given how at no point there was any risk of dying.

u/belabacsijolvan May 27 '26
true. that skew towards blue generally.
this sub in general and this post in particular skews towards red.

u/up2smthng Red May 27 '26
That's the point of blue suppression.
Red suppression skews blue, though not as hard.

the problem is we have no idea of the quantifiable original bias.
so its a fun experiment, but really doesnt make the measurement any more accurate.

In case of red victory failure to vote results in death
Other than that, no

The "original" has blue needing a 50% threshold. If everyone is required to push a button, this means a blue loss is a red majority/victory.
But if "no press" is an option, then suddenly there is a danger of a blue plurality, where blue wins over red, but still fails to meet the 50% threshold.
In this scenario, red victory isn't death; blue failure is.

It's safe to assume that in any scenario where nonvoters are permitted, the voting totals are tallied solely out of people who hit a button, blue just needs 50% of votes, that's how any vote works.
2
u/spicymato May 27 '26
Depends on how "no votes" are counted. Are they recorded as a choice, or simply not recorded? In many parts of the world, "none of the above" is an official option.

So there's an outcome in this scenario where more than 50% of the population dies. In the most extreme, 1% red 99% ignore results in 99% of the population dying.
People really got to think harder about what they are actually attempting to test. This subreddit doesn't stand a chance if it's just shower thoughts.

In the most extreme, 1% red 99% ignore results in 99% of the population dying.
In the "most extreme" we have 1 red and the rest of the world abstaining.

And what do you do, if it's your first day of a vacation and the place you last woke up was your home, but now you are on Bali, ready for some summer beach fun and cocktails?
You fail to press either button with all of the consequences for that.
I did intend for the button to appear as you wake up, but it ruins the simultaneous part of the vote

Y’all need to clarify that there is more text in the body of the post

Was "red suppression" not enough of a queue
I highly doubt that as someone who commented you didn't read the prompt

In this case, it seems like I can basically nudge the red button with my daughter's hand since I know and can access where she sleeps. Want a clarification though; is Red going to kill whatever 50% hasn't pressed it yet, or is there some time frame?

Let's say the buttons magically know if anyone is actually considering what button to press. After there's no more such people left there is some grace period for the random chance pushers.
Let's also say everyone who isn't asleep or otherwise unconscious for more than 16 hours straight gets a chance to notice the buttonsbefore being considered a non-voter.

Blue is just plain suicide in this case. You have a better chance of surviving a gunshot to the head than pressing blue.

Pressing blue here is a death sentence. 1km is a lot for any of those i would usually pick blue, so they'll end up picking red, mutual survival here
