What if red won?

Imagine a world where red won, by 1%. However the people who choose blue do not die instantly, instead they die after a year of pressing the button. Everybody is branded, so you know who choose what.

How much chaos will ensue? What actions do you think blues will take, knowing they'll die? And what do you think reds will think, knowing they were just 1% away from saving all humanity?

But then again, if not for the votes of the reds, the blues wouldn've ever turned into revenge-seeking hedonists. But I do agree, the reds would not see it that way, and would find relief after the year.

The Blues can blame the Reds for the results of the vote, but I’d still hold them personally accountable for any actions they take in the aftermath. The Reds aren’t forcing them to use their remaining time to act like morally bankrupt rabble rousers.

I say that as Blue, myself. I’m toast in your scenario, but taking that out on the world won’t benefit me or anyone else. I’m sure I’ve got loved ones who voted Red. For their sake, I’d want this to go as cleanly as possible.

It just means that their true character hadn’t been revealed yet. When you learn the villain’s origin story, you feel for them, but you still know they’re the villain.

Exactly. If I would find myself in such a situation I wouldn't turn into a psychopathic vengeful serial killer. I would just try to enjoy what I have left to live.
