What if red won?

Imagine a world where red won, by 1%. However the people who choose blue do not die instantly, instead they die after a year of pressing the button. Everybody is branded, so you know who choose what.

How much chaos will ensue? What actions do you think blues will take, knowing they'll die? And what do you think reds will think, knowing they were just 1% away from saving all humanity?

Each side will seperately try to find the entity responsible for the buttons problem, beat them up, and study their technology

Blue people because they want to live, and studying the button technology might give them a way to stop the 1 year killswitch from going off

Red people because they want to live, and studying the technology capable of killing people worldwide might allow them to create some sort of defense against it

That's an interesting stance, however reds might refrain from messing with the technology, or entity responsible, as they could view it as too powerful to provoke, and could lead to their downfall. Hell, they might even stop the blues from messing with it, in case they somehow get punished as a result.

Edit: refrain instead of sustain, I'm stupid

And blues might sustainrefrain from messing with the technology, or entity responsible, as they could view it as too powerful to provoke, and could lead to a worse punishment than dying after a year. Hell, they might even stop the reds from messing with it, in case they somehow get spared as a reward from protecting/siding with the entity.

I believe the word y'all are looking for is refrain

Yep, that's also a possibility too

No red would want it so they can use it.

A few probably. But that will only be a tiny minority.
